Let's say LSU takes care of business. We all know that they need to win out, regardless of what happens with Auburn.

But, if something is proven with what's going on with Cam Newton, where does that leave LSU? Again, if LSU wins out, what does the NCAA do with the polls? You're looking at an undefeated LSU team if Auburn has to forfeit these games.

Does the NCAA take it's time in the investigation? Do they wait till the end of the year to say that Auburn used an ineligible player? That would leave LSU with what?

I think this is bigger news for LSU the deeper it goes into the investigation. I read on the SEC Rant that a TCU booster may have recordings of Newton saying Miss. St's. price wasn't good enough.

Of course, all of these questions are pointless if LSU doesn't win out.

At the same time, the Miles haters will be able to give him another excuse for his success.

-- Saban's players won his 07 NCG for him.
-- Got lucky backing into a NCG.
-- Took Auburn forfeiting to get a SEC Champ.

Surely they aren't that stupid to credit Saban for LSU's success in 2010, are they ?

I mean, can you really say these things are false if this happens?

I wouldn't hold it against him, but facts are facts.

auburn will not forfeit. they will vacate the wins.

lsu and bama will have each 1 loss, and we would obviously have the tie breaker if we win out.

They definately will take time unless something earth shattering falls out of the sky to condemn the Newton's. The NCAA are not lawyers able to subpoena people involved. They have to rely on people volunteering their story. This will take a while.

By the time anything comes of this situation, Newton will be long gone to the NFL and the players in high school now that will eventually play for Auburn will get to pay for his sins. Nice system huh?

Well, considering those same posters are quick to acknowledge DiNardo's players for the SEC Title in 2001..

Wait a minute ?

I'd be OK with this because LSU played Auburn when they had an ineligible player. Not LSU's fault, but I understand your point.

If there is to be an investigation it needs to be started now and near conclusion before SECCG and Heisman voting periods. Too much is riding on this to wait till the end of the season. Say Auburn wins NC and then has to give it back? It'd be like 04 or 05 in reverse where USC had Reggie Bush and won the NC leaving an undefeated Auburn out in the cold. If there is proof of illegal activity it needs to be investigated now.

FAIL

Bama has lost 2 SEC games (USC and LSU). No tie breaker needed. LSU would take the SEC West (assuming we beat Ole Piss and the Piggies).
But it's a moot point unless the Aubies lose to UGA and Bama.

Being that Cam Newton was every bit of Auburn's win over LSU, he's an ineligible player. Why do you mark a loss for a team playing someone who shouldn't be on the field?

Take him off the field and this is another LSU blowout as it was in 09.

I just hope that if something happens, the NCAA takes swift action.

It doesn't even have to be proven for this scandal to effect this year. Auburn could find out that there is damning evidence and decide to sit Cam. If Cam is benched - I sure don't like Auburn's chances of going undefeated.
