Make no mistake, Jeff Duncan is a tool.

But, nothing in that video is him showing butthurt. In fact, he explains what his question was meant to be, admits it was poorly worded, and then expresses his regret for it because he didn't mean to offend anyone.

Exactly what in his video did you object to?

I'm not watching a video of a guy with a face for radio. I'm sorry that he may or may not have gotten his FEELZ hurt, but no one cares about what your response is. People follow the football team. When my fantasy columnist league updates its scoring, maybe I'll care.

Then you should watch the video. It isn't as the OP portrayed it to be.

I don't care what his response is. The media, especially the sports media, thinks that people care about the meta things that they discuss in journalism classes. I don't care about what your point was or what the question should have been or why you were caught of guard or why you may or may not have been surprised by the reaction.

Sports personalities are conduits through which I process information about something I care about. I don't need Costas' opinion on social issues, and I don't care about what issues the question raised or what the reaction of the guy who asked a weird question was.

I do, however, enjoy commenting on how the media has taken to reporting on stories they create by the questions they ask, thus turning themselves into the story for the next cycle. Hence my participation in this thread.

Duncan: "All I did was compare his team to a nail being hammered by a Florida team last season. Why did he get upset? I mean, this is just what I do. People should be used to it."

To be fair to Duncan, he basically says in the video that his question was a poorly worded one, which to me means that he wasn't trying to create a story with his question....

I agree with your stance, but you should know the whole story before you judge Jeff Duncan.

Local media members get mad at Les because he's smarter than they are and can use the English language better than the 'writers' that cover him.

The first part is very true, the second part... No.

Duncan never said anything like that in his video.

What part of Duncan's video did you find objectionable?

By responding to something that requires absolutely no response, he is moving it into a secondary cycle thus making himself the story. I can judge Jeff Duncan for what is one rung down from what the Baylesses and the Smiths of the world do. Ask a question, get a funny response, then keep it going by making your response to the response a story. That's what I'm saying.

Yes, I didn't transcribe the video, dude.

Why does this need a response at all?

I didn't see any trace of butthurt in that, what about it did you see?

Dumb, if anyone was butthurt it was Les. His offense was anemic and they had no answer for a team that committed itself to run the ball at will against LSU.

Sorry Les, you got hammered. Own up to it.

I have to laugh at this. They gave up 237 total yards on 70 plays in that game. That's 3.3 yards per play. They gave up 3 yards a rush. They lost the game because Beckham couldn't come up with a catch and fumbled the one he finally caught. The Danielson narrative that they lined up and drilled LSU is not supported by the facts.

didn't seem butthurt. He admitted he worded the question poorly but still couldn't understand why Les went off the way he did (and neither do I)

I agree. I don't know why people are making fun of him. I applaud him for this explanation video.

See, here's the problem. Too many people don't know how to use the analogy. Want to see hammered? Look up the LSU/Miss State game where LSU never punted.

I imagine most people are making fun of him because he's not very good at his job.

Those are nice stats and all, but I'm obviously referring to not having an answer for the second half when UF rushed for 4.9/carry.
