We made them quit.

Say what you want about "the offense wasn't different" or "Miles could've done that", but the fact of the matter is we haven't beaten an opponent's will down like that in a while.

Missouri knew they were overmatched. They knew by the 2nd quarter they had no shot, hence the antics at halftime that usually derive from frustration.

We were all too use to letting vastly inferior teams walk out of tiger stadium feeling like they competed well. Feeling like they could hold their head up high.

Not last night. They left with their tail tucked between their legs.

We played 100% the entire game. The defense was still flying around in the 4th up 40 points. Aranda actually got pissed on the sidelines when we gave up a first down in the 4th. That's a different level of intensity I haven't seen from this team in a while.

It honestly reminded me of some of the early games from 2011. Where we could just run at will against the other team and there was nothing they could do about it.

Eta: A couple of quotes from the Mizzou coach.

Barry Odom
quote:

They really handed it to us in every area, on offense, defense and kicking....I feel like I got my tail kicked tonight and we did as a program. We didn’t win on the line of scrimmage on either side of the ball.

quote:

Am I upset about this loss? Absolutely. I thought we were going to have a hell of a game and we didn’t. They whipped up on
us in every area.

They're looking forward to their bye week after playing us.

quote:

At the beginning of the year, you look at your bye week and where that is, you don’t know how it’s going to play out. I think it’s going to come at a perfect time for us

Yeah, but how? I think it's because Mizzou came out stacking the box and we passed on most plays. We took what they were giving us. That's what we haven't been doing.

Yeah, that Mizzou team didn't look like they even wanted to be on the field most of the game.

never played against a more uninspired team.

Yeah that offense wasn't anything special with Lee, but they were good at what they did and we consistently scored letting the defense play fresh for the most part.

It was similar to last night.

Those quotes are very telling of how we killed their will.

After scoring 79 last week, what a reality check this was.

Years ago, I read an article by an NFLer who said his team had a game they played. Each individual would play lights out until his opposing player would give up. Throughout the game, various teammates would come off the field and say "My man just gave up". They would try to get the entire other team to give up. They were really proud when they completely demoralized each opponent.

LSU did that last night!

MSU sucks worse than Mizzou and we could only put up 23 with LF playing.

This LSU team is better. How much? Only time will tell.

But they played as good as an LSU team could play last night given the circumstances.

Offense was great from the play calling to execution and the o line played way better than I thought they could ...

But what I was impressed with was the defense , our corners were covering their receivers step for step , the d line was getting pressure all game and tackling was as crisp as ever ....

Really fun to watch a game where the offense and defense compliments each other , it was something we haven't seen in a while in tiger stadium....

Coach O said it best after the game "we kept the peddle to the metal" something I've missed for a while. You could really tell we kept our foot on their throat.

You're the part of the fan base I would have hoped disappeared after the team playing better.
