FWIW I basically repeated what Shea Dixon said but he will not say anything further unless Saivion says so.

The LSU program made a joke of a hire for head coach. Maybe some players know they are aboard a sinking ship and still have time to go elsewhere.

Did the rules for posting on here change? I thought that bashing coaches or players was unacceptable ? Why is this guy not banned?
I'm sick of this shite!

Ron Brooks was the first Tiger that I thought of. He was behind some of the DBU greats but stayed and played in 53 games while only starting in 3 over his career. He was a great team player that when given the opportunity shined like polished Gold. Another one is Jose Vargas and he had a lot of reasons to leave LSU and go home early and I knew a lot of fans wished he would leave. For you younger folks here is a quote about how his career turned out.

" By the way, Jose' is the greatest transformation I have ever seen in a basketball player. He literally could not catch the ball when he got to LSU without walking. As a senior, he was the best center in the SEC."

Kudos for those two for staying because they believed in themselves no matter how many players were ahead of them or how bad they were chewed on by coaches or how bad they screwed up on national TV or how many Tiger fans wanted them to quit to free up a scholarship.

But he's looking at his own personal prospects, and they are really slim. He needs to play at the position that best puts his talents on display for as long as possible. He needs reps on the edge to show off for the next level, which he is absolutely capable of playing at. So in a sense, I don't blame him. When you are that talented and unable to really know you're going to get those reps it's tough to handle. LSU is a really, really unique situation as a school. The best want to come here, but sometimes, that same fact prevents the best from playing as much as they should.

this is correct. I don't blame any kid for transferring if it's to get more playing time. College careers go by very fast - and they want to get on the field as much as possible.

I don't care about someone "having the chest" for competition. Guys want to play, and if it's not happening at one school, go somewhere else where chances are better. For every feel-good story about a kid waiting his turn and succeeding his senior year, there's a bunch of others where guys waited and never got on the field.

Go somewhere else and play.

See, this is where I think you're wrong. Saivion Smith wouldn't have to wait until his senior year to play. He would have provided valuable depth and played a ton in the Nickel. Playing time isn't the complaint because he would have played.

So that's why all these highly touted Texas Tech transfers are jumping ON board? GTFO

Beating our chest about Texas Tech transfers shows how far the program has really fallen. Expect that continue this fall. We may as well accept the fact the hire was really bad and this will be a 7-9 win season, and likely followed by a drop off in recruiting. Sorry for being a realist in a world of delusional optimism

There's no offense intended, but Savion did not excel in the Nickel and if you watched him do it you'd understand that you're actually in the wrong here.

He's an edge corner. He doesn't play well in the slot and many others-along with Savion-evidently don't see that changing. I disagree with the idea that he'd play alot because if you aren't productive where they put you then you will see your PT impacted.

So no, PT is the complaint. Your tack-intentional or not-is to reframe the debate. This is almost assuredly about PT. He doesn't need to play in the slot in college to position himself as a professional. Unfortunately, LSU needs him to play there and/or requires him to do so if he wants to play.

If he doesn't excel there, then he won't play. Thereby invalidating your stance that it isn't a PT issue. It's absolutely a PT issue.

If this is about thanking players that stay for their entire career and compete- and not about bashing those that leave....

I would like to thank a few more recent players. Kendall Beckwith, Duke Riley, Ethan Pocic and Tre White. Man, those guys exemplified loyalty and hard work in spite of great adversity particularly in Beckwith's case.

I hope they all have immense success on Sundays.

Have you seen these Texas Tech players actually play? Giles is a beast and Fehoko will provide valuable experience and depth

That just so happened to come the day after Smith announced he's transferring. You do know nobody believes that shite, right?

IF Savion left LSU for non-position-battle related reasons, than no hard feelings and good luck to him wherever he goes

Just burns me up to see INDIVIDUALS leave a program because they LOST a position and it wasn't GIVEN to them (i.e. Saivion Smith).

This is a bullshite thread.
It's not up to us to decide what these young men do. Wish him luck in the future and move on. You don't know his situation or his reasoning behind the decision he made.

At the end of your op, you knocked guys for leaving and even called Smith out by name. Grow up man. They're college kids.

Shut the hell up. You don't know the personal circumstances surrohnding individual situations. A thread based on your assumptions. I wish I could purchase down votes.
