Are your referring to Kendall Beckwith?
I'd say the majority, if not much more, agree he had to wait longer than he should have.
Acknowledged not exactly what the OP is referring to, but he did wait longer than was fairly obvious than he needed to have. Considering he came in as a DE and moved position and then waited, I would throw him in the pot because both of those events can cause transfers.

It's cute how everyone assumes it is competition and playing time. The LSU program made a joke of a hire for head coach. Maybe some players know they are aboard a sinking ship and still have time to go elsewhere. That may not even be true. The bottom line is we have no idea and likely never will. Speculating is fun though

did you just start following LSU??? He sat behind Welter for and only became a full time started once Welter was finished school.

Add Ron Brooks to that list
One of my favorites from 2011

He became a full time starter game 7 vs UF his sophomore year.

And how about the fifth year senior (first year starting) quarterback, who led us to a national championship, Matt Flynn.

I'm not the one bashing players based on assumptions.

Yeah that top 10 recruiting class full of mostly guys who could've backed out and picked any other school in the country but instead chose to stick with the fighting Ed O's saw the same thing.

Duke Riley, Deion Jones, Donnie Alexander, Darrel Williams, Rickey Jefferson, Danielle Hunter, and Ed Paris
Only one of these kids-Ed Paris-was/is a 5-Star, Top-Ranked player at his position out of HS. The others were guys that came in with beasts and/or knew they'd have to wait. They were always viewed as program types that would need to work hard to see the field, embraced it and blossomed because of it.
Savion is a flat-out edge corner. Right now, Donte Jackson & KT2 are the #1's there. Both of them fought the depth chart and came back from adversity and are looked at in the top spot at those positions.
Savion was going to get serious PT but it would be in the slot. The Slot CB spot is not his best position and he would honestly more than likely not play as well in that position as he would on the edge. The problem-from his perspective-is that he needs an injury or someone else to slip before he gets to play there.
To compound that challenge, there are kids like Greedy & Kristian Fulton behind him, with Freshman like Vincent and others about to hit the field and push kids up and down the lineup above, below and beside him.
He's got tons of natural ability. He wouldn't have played in 10+ games last year in a stacked Secondary under a fantastic coordinator with one of the best position coaches in America at that spot otherwise.
But he's looking at his own personal prospects, and they are really slim. He needs to play at the position that best puts his talents on display for as long as possible. He needs reps on the edge to show off for the next level, which he is absolutely capable of playing at.
So in a sense, I don't blame him. When you are that talented and unable to really know you're going to get those reps it's tough to handle. LSU is a really, really unique situation as a school. The best want to come here, but sometimes, that same fact prevents the best from playing as much as they should.
Look at Jalen Collins. Look at Rashard Robinson. Off the field issues and depth chart concerns kept these guys from being the type of Tre'Davious White, Jamal Adams guys. There are tons of kids in our Secondary that are 2nd-4th round draft pick capable that start for 3-4 years at other schools IN THE SEC, much less the Power 5.
But here at LSU? They get a half season, maybe a year as a starter. The truly talented, 1st Round types get 2-3 years. Shaq White coming back for his Senior Year is a relative rarity.
My theory is: If you're going to recruit kids like this, you're going to see attrition occur. Kids like this KNOW they have pro potential and they want to maximize the 1st contract earnings as the 2nd contract is now 4-5 and sometimes 6 years away if you end up blossoming in the League and getting the Franchise.
Which means getting on the field somewhere and getting reps on tape versus live competition. Which can't always happen because of the absolutely, positively STACKED situation the Depth Chart is at each position in the Defensive Secondary at LSU.
Best of luck to Savion. I appreciate the effort and time he spent here. He contributed early and that's a huge notch on your belt here IMO. Provided he doesn't transfer intra-divisionally I wish him very well. Provided he does, I wish him well in any game he plays outside of vs LSU.
Some of you are idiots.

Sure, I even quoted a couple of them. How do you know he didn't want to play the nickel?
