I keep seeing how Collis temple and dale brown are in full support of johnny and no way they let him get fired, but after how last season turned out, and how this one is going so far no way they still give him their full support right?!?

I think so, I have questioned if they want the LSU basketball program to succeed or not for many years. They do have a lot of influence for recruits but they dont contribute much financially as a booster.

Someone has to keep the alumni game together. Jones is safe as could be

You have to realize that when Dale "retired" he recommended Johnny for the job and said he deserved it.

Imagine, the lead assistant and head recruiter for a program that had just had 4 straight losing seasons, had never been a head coach before and was part of a program that was about to be put on significant probation.

If he was supporting him then, he'll support him now.

Those guys should have NO say in future decisions about the Head BB coach.
They cost LSU dearly by pushing the JJ hire.

Seems to be really making a big difference too. This roster is stacked with NBA guys. Can't jeopardize losing that

JJ will be fired in March if our season continues on its downward spiral. And the man (AD) who hired Trent Johnson and Johnny Jones will look for another bargain basement hire.

There is no doubt Dale Brown and all the active LSU Basketball alums wanted JJ as HC when Johnson was hired. When TJ failed, Alleva went with LSU Basketball people to hire JJ. Now that JJ is failing, Alleva can hire whoever he wants. But the BOS wants a CHEAP hire.

Trent Johnson was actually a really good hire on paper, not a bargain "local boy" like Alleva is known for. He won the SEC his first season here with a talented roster, but he didn't work out in the end because he couldn't recruit here.

My trust in Alleva has been in free fall the last few years though.

I can't imagine what we'd do if Clarence Ceasar cancelled the alumni game!

Their support of JJ has nothing to do with performance. If it did, they never would have supported him in the first place because his performance before taking over this job gave no indication that he was qualified. They support JJ because they know and like him. They are his close friends, mentors, etc. They'd happily have the program die a slow death just to keep their buddy around.

That's the fundamental problem for LSU. Not one person who has any power to make decisions for LSU at any level gives two shits about the school. They are only concerned with political influence, personal aggrandizement and taking care of their cronies.

Why the heck does Temple get so much pull? Is selling insurance all it takes to become one of the top movers and shakers in LSU BBall?

Supposedly they told Joe that he would never see another AAU basketball player at LSU unless their man JJ was hired.

^^^ This

At this time Johnson was a promising coach and I'll even say good coach. His down fall was that he had no connection to the homes in Louisiana ans the south in general and year in ans year out lost talent that should have ended up on LSU's campus.

I don't believe they will fire CJJ unless backed into a corner because Basketball is 3 tier to Football and Baseball

Johnson had no connection to Louisiana and that isolated Temple and the crew and they didnt like it at all. It got pretty nasty from what I gather. Then after that they basically forced Alleva to hire JJ.
