Considering it was his first real CFB action, I thought he looked damn good.

He definitely takes plays off, but I think that is mostly due to being winded. Needs to get in shape and maybe a kick in the arse.

Of all the things to be disappointed in, Valentine shouldn't be one of them.

he's playing his first ever BIG TIME minutes. He barely knows the schemes yet. Give him time. He did alright. Besides, it didn't help that our defense was on the field 85% of the game. He's a big boy, of course he got gassed.

No he's not. In fact he and Trey White were the most encouraging in my opinion.

I thought he looked great, pushing double teams in the backfield. Dude is the real deal. Serious drop off when he wasn't in the game.

speaking of the def though, how do you guys feel about the dbs? i think t white played great but jamal never made a big play and our guys were constantly falling down. thats happend the last few years guys falling and letting a big play happen for 1st. dont really see that happening to other teams as much

Haven't gone back to the film room to really breakdown his performance but I understand where all the hype from practice came from; he was practicing against LSU's weak & soft O-line, of course he looked like an unstoppable stud.

He was very out of shape. Was just standing up every play and not moving. He's fat enough to where they can't really move him but he doesn't move anywhere either

T. White - Good game. I remember them getting a couple of receptions on him, but that's always going to happen. And he was the sparkplug with the INT return & fumble recovery that almost won the game for us. (getting those 2 turnovers like that sort of reminded me how Tyrann could spark the Tigers back to life at times)

Adams - I think he was fine. I feel like he was very active and in on a lot of plays, either making the tackle or being in position to make it if the guy in front didn't already do so. He didn't have any highlight reel plays, but I think he worked his arse off and was always around the ball.

Donte Jackson - good game. I don't know his stats off-hand, but I feel like every time I noticed him he was doing something good. Don't know how he fared tackling UW's big backs, but his speed is an asset when defending the pass. Pleasant surprise.

The rest - not sure. I noticed them making a play here and there, but nothing overly good or bad.

... And, as for the subject, Valentine-- I made some effort to watch out for him, and when I did, I feel like he was getting a good push into the backfield... If that's his role, he did it pretty well.

Defense played good except for some missed tackles , giving up only 16 pts for being on the field that long is not bad at all ....

We should be able to put up more than 7 pts as an offense

That isn't even remotely true.

What? His man was open a number of times and caught passes. I never saw him break up a pass but if he did I missed it... it may have been one of the many times I had my eyes closed due to the pain

Buckling his chinstrap wore him out.

I saw Godchaux get stood up plenty too.

Donte Jackson and Adams did not play good. I dont know what game you watched. Jackson was abused.

Adams plays so out of control. Saw him on 2 occasions come flying up and totally whiffing on tackles.

Valentine definitely flashed. But like many have said, is so out of shape. They showed him from the back late in the 2nd Quarter, his shoulder were going up and down at a rapid pace trying to catch his breath and you could tell he had nothing left.

Don't know if I'd say they played good. UW moved the ball really well between the 20s in the first half. That helped them dominate time of possession, and definitely played a role in our offense not having a chance to find any sort of rhythm until sometime in the second half.

We were fortunate to hold the Badgers to 6 points in the first half. But I'm not sure if that is a credit to any red zone defensive adjustments we made... or if UW's play calling in the redzone changed in a way that bailed us out. We definitely lucked out when Jefferson got the INT on that ill-advised endzone pass that prevented them from scoring more.

you people have lost your mind. You need to go back and watch film. Wisconsin's touchdown drive was the only drive that Wisconsin had success rushing up the middle. Their center was abusing Gilmore. He literally pushed him back 5-10 yards every play until they scored a TD.

The very next drive Valentine was back in. You know what happened? Wisconsin tried to run up the middle on 1st and 2nd down. It didn't work because Valentine ate up the middle. Then on 3rd down, their inexperienced QB threw a pick 6.

Valentine played the rest of the game and Wisconsin's run game was not effective at all. He was a beast and did everything we need if we are going to play a 3-4. He was awesome.

ETA: And he hasn't played in a game in over a year. He's only going to get better.
