we need screens, draws and counters. misdirection and
reverses won't work either. alabama is too fast imo.

All they would need to do is use one of our other runningbacks instead of Scott. If we use someone like Williams or Shepard they could then line up at WR too. Lafell, Toliver, and Rabdle should be able to stay in the game.

williams is our 4th back right now.. you are kidding right?

TBOB actually plays better against bigger slower guys. The only game he didn't grade well was I think Vandy when he was going up against someone that was small and had alot of speed and kept swimming around him. He will be fine against Cody, he will do as well as a first year player possibly can.

This thread should be called:
" Can TB and someone else double team Cody and not let someone else get free?"

Ahh, the old "wrong man is playing center" argument. What is funny is that most of the posters advocating for P. J. to play are often big proponents of JJ as well. They say that "Les is playing the wrong guy at center", but in JL/JJ arguments, they often say... "the coaches know who is better in practice and gives us the best chance to win."

What a bunch of bullshite! Make up your damn mind! Does Miles know what he is talking about when it comets to QB, but he is clueless in playing the right Center? Give me a f****** break!

Why not give the 2nd team center some playing time in each game? It's the only real way to gain experience.

Actually, a well executed reverse is a solid call against a fast pursuing squad like 'Bama. The key is timing and execution, particularly by your secondary blockers, tight ends, wideouts etc. Most teams simply have a hard time with the execution and of course few have a Holliday or Shepard type speed guy. By the way did everyone notice the return of the old toss sweep against Tulame. About time.

You know T-Bob is just back from an injury;he couldn't do the regular workout for leg strength due to his rehab. You guys are unbelievable...not ONE of you could do the job this young man is doing considering the time he had to get on the field following his injury...he'll be terrific next year but to run down a kid that's working really hard to get the job done, is criminal. Yeah, Cody at 6'5" & 354lbs will probably whip T-Bob man to man more times than not so expect to see dbl teams on Cody, but to criticize T-Bob after he's come back from injury is ignorant. If PJ was as good as T-Bob making the line calls he'd probably be first string...T-Bob is smart; the Center is the QB of the off. line, you bunch of numnucks...he's in there for a reason.

Everyone knows the most popular player on a football team is the second string center.

Not ONE person on the internet can do better so that means T-Bob deserves to start over players who have leg strength and won't get manhandled every play. I love the stats about all of his "knockdown" blocks too as if he is pancaking anybody. His "knockdowns" come because every other play he is asked to cut block because he is so weak at the point of attack and of course every once in a while defenders are going to trip over him as he is laying there on the ground clogging up the middle.

FWIW miles has already said in an interview that they will double cody. If we are super lucky maybe that won't even be enough if T-Bob sucks as bad as many of claim.

Cody is just a scary dude any way you slice it. Fact is though that Hebert is second on the team in pancake blocks(37 I think) to CBlack. As sophomore centers go he's probably slightly above average in Div.I, not a Remington candidate by any means. He does not need to knock Cody down, just get in his way consistantly. The man only has 17 tackles on the season. Remember that Dorsey saw double-teams on every play and still had three times the tackles of big Cody prior to being injured against Auburn. Smart play-calling and consistantly good execution will move the chains on 'Bama. Outside of the QB position, they have not faced the kind of talent that LSU puts on the field on offense.

I've been thinking the same. I'm greatly concerned about our ability to run against the Tide and our ability to protect JJ. Our offense will have to be streamlined and happen quick. Quick slants, hot reads, quick screens, roll outs. I just can't see there being much pocket time.

I agree totally. I also think if we can have a little success running the ball (that's a BIG if) then it will open up the play-action. I also think putting him in max protect when he does drop back will also help. Keep Scott in as a blocker in the backfield. IMO they are too big and too fast to line up and beat them one-on-one. We need to give their defense different looks to keep them off-guard.

That being said, I think we lose this one to a little bit better team on the road who has had 2 weeks of rest and preparation.

Hope I'm wrong.

Might as well put that huge FB in there at center for this game. Which reminds me...we have a FB that is bigger than our starting center...

We need to use a combination of sub sandwiches and misdirection plays if we are to win this game.
