I just mentioned it in another thread, but it will probably get lost in there. I think it's quite a point of interest.

Their starter, Terrel Hunt, tore his achilles in the first game of the year.

Their backup, Eric Dungey, probably won't play against LSU after a brutal helmet to helmet hit that likely caused a concussion.

AJ Long started a few games last year, but has been awful in practice after a broken hand injury and the staff does not trust him.

Austin Wilson was a lightly recruited 2013 QB. He played some in the game against Central Michigan, but gave way in OT.

So enter in Zack Mahoney. Who the heck is Zack Mahoney?

Well he's a guy who only started playing quarterback his senior year of high school. He had to try on at his local Community College in Illinois. He was offered a preferred walk-on spot at Indiana and Illinois after his first year at College of Dupage, but decided to accept one at Syracuse. He was playing QB on the scout team in the lead up to the CMU game. He was 4 for 4 for 19 yards against CMU and took the reigns in OT.

Update, Mahoney is "their guy"

TLDR: Syracuse is in big trouble

This won't be pretty.

You'd think they'd just get a talented cornerback or athlete to take over. OUCH

Sounds like 5th string prior to year, bumped up to 4th string, and now 1st string

You read it here first people, Zack Mahoney will use this opportunity as a springboard to the NFL HOF in Canton.

He'll have to buy a ticket to get in.

We will have beaten 3 straight undefeated teams to start the season! Could have been 4 straight.

If you read their forums, they really really hope hes good to go, because after him, it's extremely slim pickins.

I think it would be irresponsible to let him play the next week after a hit like that, especially against a vastly superior opponent. Obviously the doctors will make the right call if he is good to go, but geez that looked terrible. If it were five years ago, maybe, but in the hypersensitive about concussion times, I'm pessimistic. I hope he does play, just to give the defense more of a test.

Vicious hit

Well crap he will probably have 400 yards passing and 200 yards rushing against us, we have no game film.

Well, it's not like they're suiting up a waterboy.Sounds like the guy is inexperienced, but has some physical tools. I expect they won't let him go out there and sling it around. He won't get the opportunity to throw 5 picks. If SU gets behind early they'll try to shorten the game and get out of there without letting it get too embarassing. LINK

sounds like the real deal. came off the bench and led his team to victory, and is perfect in his passing attempts. We'd better put some pressure on this guy.
