I remember going to the UCI super regional in high school. My God the old box was rocking. I miss it badly

the new box will never replace the old one yes but if something like UCI happened again in the new box the fans would be pretty wild.

I just don't like the idea of a berm it's just an excuse for college students to show up get drunk and watch baseball. The box doesn't need that. The box is fine as it is now. Adding or changing things isn't going to fix a thing, it's the fans who need to show up more in the future.

I really think LSU fans forget that without students there would be no teams. Baseball games should be an experience college kids love. If giving them a NICE berm and beer helps why not do it?

Also you say it's an excuse for college students to show up and drink. Newsflash it's their school!!

Why? Because it's new. Other than being new, it's quite lacking.

we aren't getting a berm no chance. But I still don't like the idea. There is plenty of room for college students in the right field corner I actually think they have more seats than the old box.

I don't care if it's their school. College baseball isn't just for the students locals and alumni support the school as well. When it comes to the stadium there isn't much wrong with the new box. Maybe having seat backs the entire stadium would be nice but not necessary at all. There is plenty of room for college students to sit and heckle the opposing team. All of the old traditions are still there. A nice new addition of suites, people of all ages can come and enjoy the game etc.

I'm going to stick by this. The box doesn't need to change. If you want to add a berm you have to take away seats (including ones of season ticket holders) to add a section that isn't paid and is open to anyone to come in. That would piss off a lot of fans and I fully suspect students would still have a crappy showing and not really be that involved in the game, rather they just be drunk 4 nights a week at the stadium. The students aren't as great as they use to be there is no doubt about that but I don't think it is the stadium, rather it is the students themselves. Across every sport it is evident that something has changed. There were empty seats in the student section of tiger stadium in some of our biggest games over the past couple of years. Maravich Maniac section sucks now (granted the move hurt but that doesn't mean students still can't show up. Now coons corner just isn't the same.

Sure stadiums have changed, but even more the students have changed and are more entitled and care less about sports.

Alex Box stadium isn't going to change and it shouldn't, it is still one of the best stadiums in the country and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

that is part of it, but it also has the most seats in the country. the area behind the grand stands is great

but I'll let an outside opinion of the stadium give you the reasons why it is so nice

LINK

also Alex Box named #70 in 101 best stadium experiences back in 2012. The only college ball park to make it

LINK

some of our fans may not like it but it seems that when people who aren't tiger fans judge the stadium they consider it one of the best.

The fact that the Box was one game away from closing only added to that though...

The entire stadium is lacking in the "atmosphere" department, not just the students.

So you don't want more people showing up to the box?

taking away both outfield bleachers and adding a free standing place where students can show up will at-least ticket wise bring less to the game, maybe more students show up but we usually don't fill up coons corner why do we need more student seating?

show me an SEC school that servers Alcohol inside the stadium, the berm isn't inside the stadium it is official outside the stadium in oxford.

edit:
quote:

The SEC's current alcohol policy states: "No alcoholic beverages shall be sold or dispensed for public consumption anywhere in the facility and the possession and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages in the public areas of the facility shall be prohibited. These prohibitions shall not apply to private, leased areas in the facility or other areas designated by the SEC. There shall be no advertising displays mentioning or promoting alcoholic beverages in the facility."

this article is about football but I think it also extends to baseball as well.

More students at the games = better atmosphere

Alex box during the regular season is not exactly crowded.

It's up to each school. There is no rule. I'm not debating with you. I'm telling you.

The suites at Alex box serve alcohol. So what's the difference?

most stadiums in the SEC aren't packed, during the regular season. Adding a berm won't all of a sudden bring more people to the box, you just have college students who want an excuse to drink.

there may be more students but other than students attendance may stay the same maybe even go down because you are taking away a few hundred season ticket holder seats.

I just showed you an SEC policy that says no Alcohol in public areas of SEC facilities, but it is allowed in private suites.

Ole Miss berm is not a part of the stadium it is open to the public so SEC policies don't apply.

something else, have any of you been to a tournament away from Alex Box Stadium and seen the amount of fans who show up? Have you been in Omaha for an LSU baseball game? What about Hoover? It always seems that when it comes to those games LSU fans DOMINATE attendance. Last year there were a couple of traditional powers in Omaha LSU and UNC. Oregon State there as well they have had success, MSU has had success in the past but not so much recently. LSU fans were many more than all of those schools. LSU has one of the most committed and loyal fan bases in the country.

to compare we are Kentucky Basketball of the baseball world.

Just lease them all to the TAF. Problem solved.

Besides, it won't matter when they have to start paying players and need a big quick revenue bump; the SEC will change their rules.
