We used to applaud the other teams pitcher at the old Box. Of course it was usually after we had tagged him for 7 runs.

We did, and I'm not one to jump on the bitch-about-this-bandwagon, but we never used to applaud like we do now. I see standing ovations for standard pitching performances these days.

I've heard "tiger bait" maybe 2 times the past few years, and those were half-assed because we had to cheer for the opposing pitcher.

I think the Box has gone for opposing players from being "damn it is loud, look at all the people giving me shite" to now it is "the Box is cool, they clap for us and everything."

I remember throwing back a HR ball once from left field because the ball was hit by the visiting team. And that wasn't really an option, people were yelling at me "throw it back."

I don't sit near the bullpen but I'd guess that we rarely heckle the visiting players.

I'm not saying that we need to all become assholes , but when the game is tight I say give 'em hell. Save the niceness for when we're up by 9 runs in the top of the 9th.

Not comparing championships here, we all know OM is a perennial loser but their game time atmosphere rivals the best in the country for baseball.

Without coons corner, the left field lunatics and the bullpen bullies the box is not the same.

Can the box get loud and intimating, yes but there used to be so much going on in each section heckling the opponent that we dont hear now.

If given the option, I'd trade for LSU to be in Oxford, and they can have baton rouge

Personally I want 2 things done:

- RF berm
- Extend the upper concourses all the way to the foul poles.

1. Get rid of the cheap high school bleachers and put chair backs all the way down the lines.
2. Replace outfield bleachers (at the least in RF) with a berm.
3. Sell Alcohol

I think that we can all just go ahead and forget about a berm. There is really nowhere to put one without removing seating - something LSU isn't ever going to do. Even IF we had a berm they'd find a way to make it awful: no coolers, no alcohol, etc. I was never too keen on the idea of a berm anyway. The few parks that I've been to that had one I wasn't impressed. Everyone was there just to have a garden-party. Not really there to watch the team but just drink and hangout.

And this wouldn't exactly class up the Box either:

when you build new seats in a stadium you calculate it in terms of "how many times does this seat need to be sat in before we start realizing a net profit from it"

i'm not sure what that number is but we're gonna be playing a lot of big games in the future...

there are chair backs down the lines just not in the home run bleachers, but again no need really to do this.

no this has never been the atmosphere of the box. we don't need that lame thing ole miss has

pretty sure SEC rules forbid this.

nicest stadium.

the new box is one of the nicest stadiums in the country.

only stadiums that could compete are probably South Carolina's with all of their chair backs, and maybe one other.

Ole Miss atmosphere > LSU atmosphere.

Our fans have gotten soft. Reading their press clippings.

Something is wrong when your team is playing for a regional championship in a tight game and you could almost hear a pin drop in the 1st couple innings and the last couple innings the previous night.

A berm is needed. Alcohol should be allowed on it as well.

granted most stadiums would be pretty quiet when the other team is scoring. But I remember us getting pretty involved in the game even though we were down 7.

sure ole miss has a better atmosphere than we do, sure our atmosphere is worse over past years I just don't think we need to change, and I don't think adding alcohol or a so called berm, would really change anything.

I just don't like the idea of a berm it's just an excuse for college students to show up get drunk and watch baseball. The box doesn't need that. The box is fine as it is now. Adding or changing things isn't going to fix a thing, it's the fans who need to show up more in the future.

Note: being that this new stadium is kind of skips stadium, I doubt he would allow something like this to happen. Yes Coons corner was wild in the 90s but it is no Berm and shouldn't be.

I'm probably in the minority here with not wanting a berm but it just wouldn't be good for our stadium. I like it the way it is, we don't need to change it we need to get on students to get more involved in the games. But every sport is suffering recently, even the students suck in support for football games. Some of our biggest games of the past couple years in tiger stadium and we can't fill up the student section.

Football's success has made our fan base entitled and it has leaked into the other sports and it shows.

Note: I am for the idea of adding Alchol to games, but you have to change the SEC not LSU. Also the berm is not officially a part of the stadium rather it is an area with some seating that sits behind the stadium. That is why alcohol is allowed in.
