The families of the LSU Mens Lacrosse Program are looking for our help to cover season expenses. As many of you know, club sports at college are mostly supported by individual player dues, but they're also heavily supplemented by public support.

Never quite understood why lacrosse does not catch on in the south....It's truly an American sport, you get to run with a stick and hit people with said stick

It’s kind of expensive to get into with all the gear you need but it’s so much fun.

The beauty of the growth of the game is that equipment is becoming cheaper to buy due to more being made & at a much better quality + efficiency in recent years. For nearly 30 years the barrier to entry was the cost of the equipment but now that cost burden is much more manageable.
As more & more schools pick up the sport, the equipment purchased, in bulk, & owned by the schools/districts will afford so many more kids the option to participate.

So is football, baseball, golf... It’s no more expensive than other sports.

The NCAA supports lacrosse as a varsity sport. Why do you think LSU doesn't have a team yet? I wonder if it's cheaper than swimming and diving.

Title IX

The easy answer will always be Title IX. But it's not the truth because a women's lacrosse roster would give the numbers needed.

But the travel expense, right now, for lacrosse is just too much. Lacrosse plays 2, sometimes 3 games a week. To travel 30-48 + coaches + equipment/ATs/etc. efficiently just isn't cheap. Even if/when the SEC were to go all in with lacrosse, the travel is still extensive & not cheap.
The SEC would need for the ACC & Big XII to go all in as well to keep OOC games feasible.

OR a really rich donor like Utah just got to basically fully fund their program for 10 years.

I don’t know I had to buy a stick, gloves, elbow pads, chest pads, cleats, helmet, and they were all pricey for the cheapest ones. I think that’s definitely more than baseball and football just to get into the sport.

You ever buy a football helmet, shoulder pads, & pants pads? Same price, if not more.

Lacrosse hasn’t taken off in the south because low class baws link it to wealthy New Englanders. Like the jackass quoted above.
