Prepare to get shot down. Les Miles is the head coach. The buck stops there. How can you defend someone who time and again has mismanaged the play clock. He is no different than Jim Haslett. If he does not pull a rabbit out of his hat with wins the rest of the way he's GONE! Another theory is Crowton is behind these screw ups. Fire Crowton and maybe save your job. Either way LSUs coaching decisions are the laughing stock of USA.

It shows a lack of remorse for last year to even allow time management issues to occur. This in itself is a 'bitch slap' to the fan base.

I like Les Miles.
He is a good guy and has done nothing here but win. If you want to be pissed off about football, go to Notre Dame. There will be more trophies to add to our case before he is gone.

I think a lot of Tigers fans are starting to get a little out of control with their desire to get rid of Les Miles.
A "little"???
We need to act like adults with a little common sense and chill the hell out!
The team will have success, 5-0, 3-0, and 9th ranked is not a bad start to success, or it will not and not ONE comment by this forum will change anything one way or the other.
So, lets all put our cliff jumping gear back up and just let the Team show us what they really got.
Bring on dem Gators cause my Tigers are hungry!!

Support for Les Miles
I think Miles is a great person. He's a great recruiter. Problems happen and they are usually fixed. I have been a proponent of Miles through this whole period, but after last week, I can no longer support the man unless he changes what is going on, coaches lights out and hammers every opponent for the rest of the year. And I just don't see that happening.

Unlike some on here, I don't care that he talks funny, I don't care that he wears a jacket when it is 90 degrees, I don't care how he wears his hat or when he drinks water or if he picks his nose.
The biggest problem he seems to have IMO is that he does not seem to look forward enough. Part of the clock issues are that no one seems to be thinking ahead. If this play doesn't work, whats next. If the play does work, whats next. We seem to do this one play at a time.
It is inconceivable to me that when Jefferson went in with 32 seconds left, he didn't go in with two plays. Or, surely they have a standard hurry up goal line that they practice so that every player would know that play one is this and play two is that.

Also,
I have already closed my mind off to anyone who supports Les Miles. If you support Les Miles, you are not a competitor.

I have a hard time deciding how I feel.
I don't think he's an elite coach.
But I also don't think he's a bumbling idiot like some people insinuate.
I think Gary Crowton was a bad hire, even though we had a good offense in 2007. (Jimbo should have sucked it, stayed and got himself another ring).
I think his hires at DC prove he's not a complete fool hiring there (Bo Pelini was terrific, Chavis is great). Yeah the co-DC disaster, but I think his thoughts were continuity with what should have been a potent offense with RP heading it up. That season as a whole went to shite. It happens.
Crowton should have lost his job last season, but didn't for whatever reason. I still trust Below Par and I think it's a matter of that we couldn't find a way to quietly get rid of him. You can pick apart his approach to firings all you want, but in most cases, it's to the benefit of the team to do it the way he does it.
He talks weird, but I don't think that makes him an idiot. He's very coded. He has odd word patterns, but what he says actually generally makes sense. He just says it in a very odd way. Almost everything about him is veiled... kept under wraps.
Realistically, I can't remember the last time LSU didn't have a chance to win every single game under Miles since his tenure started. Unfortunately, our opponents rarely are completely out of games either. (though I think 3 of our 5 games this year were more out of hand than point differentials would indicate).
He recruits well and not just by grabbing up 7 5 stars every year. Kelvin Sheppard, Alex Hurst, Mo Claiborne, Perry Riley, Josh D., Ridley... none of these guys were exactly "high profile" even if some ended up with 4 star rankings by year's end.
His teams always play hard.
He's a great motivator.
His players seem to like him.
Trying to compare him to Meyer and Saban is not good. He's not a "master strategist" in that sense. Which is why he MUST surround himself with people that are (Pelini, Chavis, etc.). But just because he's a different kind of coach, doesn't mean he can't be successful.

Les Miles has a few blunders on game day. However, the guy recruits and more importantly, he corrects problems (i.e. getting rid of co-DC's, hiring Chavis.) He can be an idiot, but his job shouldn't be in jeopardy unless we lose 6 games.
I pray we can blunder our way to 9 or 10 wins and fix the offense in the offseason.

You really think GC is running this offense
Based on Crowton's track record and the results since his 1st year, it fits his trend and pattern.

I support Miles b/c he is the head coach at LSU. We have to do something about the offense though.

Nobody here thinks LSU recruits for itself?

I liked Les all along. I have to admit, I'm beginning to sour on him recently but I still want to like him, if I had a choice to replace only one, I'd definitely replace the OC.
Regardless of our QB issues, there are plenty of teams doing more on offense with much less talent. I'm not delusional, and think LSU has the best offensive talent in the country, I'm just saying, you can turn on your TV on any Saturday and see competent offenses even at the mid major level. There's just no defending Crowton for continuing to put an offense that is this dysfuntional on the field.

I don't want to get rid of him, but there needs to be changes to the offense, and the changes that he will make this off-season should have been made last off-season...not sure why he held onto Crowton for another season.
Chicken, don't you think that by what belowpar posted last year that Miles did try to ditch Crowton?? I really have to wonder what happened there....

GC would not have been my choice but if you look at his past record he throws the ball 3 to 1 and usually 300-400 yards a game, what your watching right now is Big Ten football. Who played Big Ten football, your boy Lester Miles!
