Agree with you, and I wouldn't say he's the most unqualified coach in history and he did have interviews at better jobs than vandy and Kentucky before, we did take a huge risk with the hire. Alleva has proven multiple times he has no plan no vision and no clue how to run a big time program. This hire while I hope it works could set us back a decade. The more things unfold the more you see the ineptitude of our leadership. Do you think we have a chance at kiffin? Do you think there's a backup plan? We can hope and cheer for coach O but nobody in their right mind can say that we are definately moving in the right direction.

Hard to say there was a clear cut number 2 I'd put us in the group with Florida and auburn.

Yeah, people that think it is insane to hire a marginally successful position coach as the head coach of a top twenty program is the ones that also wants that program to lose because of it. Face it, you make no sense at all.

And that is a fair opinion to have so far. I hope the best for my alma mater as always.
However, I think that without the extremely experienced and talented group that 0 inherited this year, he will struggle mightily. He does not have the history as a head coach or as a recent position coach to warrant putting him in charge of LSU's potential push back to championship form.

I really wonder what this place would be like if Guice hadn't played like the sophomore he was against UF and didn't fumble or go the wrong way. Our new coach would be taking us to the Sugar Bowl for starters

So I honestly think (and this was suggested by a Bama fan, actually) that O is a place holder.
Someone to keep the cupboard stocked, keep the brand relatively alive, and hope for some good coaches to come available in the next 2/3 years.
He continued to recruit Ole Miss at relatively high levels even during the (very) dark years.
Maybe with some luck (which we haven't seen in a long long while) we'll be contenders in the near future, but that's purely wishful thinking.
There's nothing to suggest that we're on a path that will bring high levels of success.
This is a VERY important bowl game. Probably the most important LSU has played (outside of NC games).
It's sad to think that 6 years ago, I would've scoffed at the idea of playing Louisville. Now I'm about 70 percent sure we're going to lose.
