people freaking out that there are occasionally bad calls in football.

You have to admit, it was a pretty frickin huge missed call in arguably the biggest college football game of the year in a crucial fourth quarter possession in a 6-pt game with the loser falling out of national title contention...

Calls don't get any worse than that given the circumstances.

LSU may very well not have scored, but the opportunity was certainly taken from the Tigers at the very least. And seeing that LSU drove the field two years ago in Tuscaloosa late in the fourth quarter down 7 to score, it certainly was not unprecedented that LSU would score to win the game.

All that said, it's over. You guys won. Nothing can change that. Enjoy the win, but it is the opinion of many that LSU got robbed of an opportunity to win the game.

A picture might go a ways to disproving it after the fact, but it doesn't prove that there was incontrovertible video evidence that Julio didn't touch the ball. If you're saying that the video footage proves WITHOUT QUESTION that JJ's hand didn't touch the ball... then either you're not being entirely honest with yourself or you have a different video reel than I do. If the ref saw his hand touch the ball then I don't think there's enough video evidence to reverse that. If he says PP landed out of bounds then I think there IS enough video evidence to reverse it.

There IS enough evidence to prove JJ didn't touch the ball before Peterson. I can see that on YouTube HD on my 10" netbook. JJ's hands are NOT in front of Petersons.

Something tells me the replay official f'ed up.

Either way, I've been a college fan for more than a weekend so I've lived through much worse calls than this in this rivalry.

IMO this bad call is in a league of its own. We are talking about two teams in contention for a national title as the clock drains away. Which other call had this much riding on its outcome? I don't remember seeing countless articles written about any other call.

Against Auburn in 2006, the SEC came out and actually defended the call and claimed it was the correct call (although I strongly disagreed).

Against Alabama in 2009, the SEC said "no comment."

You do the math.

You guys have been better than us for most of this decade. You played a tough game on Saturday but I don't think you were better than us this time.

We'll never know. The Refs didn't give us the chance to win the game. It's not Bama's fault but for you or any other Bama fan to come here and try to justify it, says that you know it was fricked up.

If it were the type of call that could go either way, most Alabama fans, and really anybody who isn't a fan of LSU, would be saying its too close to overturn. But the fact of the matter is most fans I talk to from both sides say it was, without a doubt, a bad call. This leads me to believe there is little justification for the "JJ touched it first" or "he didn't have possession when his foot dragged" arguments.

The refs messed up, plain and simple.

Their argument that JJ touched it first doesn't hold water. If that were the case, it would have been stated by the Refs. The call was that Patrick caught it out of bounds. Bama fans are looking for any excuse to justify the biased refs.

I agree that our OT was holding #25 on the spearing of our QB. Should have been offsetting penalties. Another expample of poor officiating in this game. Once they would have called our guy for holding, then they should have been more likely to call the rest of the holding on Alabama.

That "block in the back" still didn't make Taylor whiff like a blind man on that tackle. He should have made the play.

Don't insult the intelligence of almost everyone on the Rant. An illegal block is just that and you fricking know it. There's no rule that states there's no penalty on an illegal block to the back (you can take your quotation marks and cram them, btw), if you should still "make a play" AFTER it happens. Another unsatisfied customer: A sore winner from Alabama...unreal.

JJ was out of bounds at the time of "touching" so the "out of bounds" rule applies.

Actually he was not. He was in the air. He hadn't landed outside the field of play yet. Just after his hands moved from behind the ball, he touched down out of bounds for the first time. You can clearly see this in the numerous videos on YouTube.

Peterson definitely intercepted that pass. Y'all are saying he had 2 feet in but when he got possession, only 1 foot was in (which is still good of course). I've looked at the replay many times on my DVR and it looks like a clean INT. It's uncertain if Julio touched the ball while his left foot was out. I still say that the play should have been overturned.

There are bad calls and non-calls in every game and they certainly missed some holding on LSU and PI on LSU as well. I still don't think there's a "conspiracy" to keep Bama undefeated. This is the first legitimate call that the refs made in favor of Bama. I just think we have terrible refs that can't make the simple calls.

This is fair enough statement.

I just want the SEC to come out and say, "a mistake was made on that review, and we apologize." Whether right or wrong for us to crave that, I think it will go a long way in helping our fan base move on from this very tough stinging loss that ended all of our championship aspirations (SEC and national title).

I agree. They need to own up to their mistakes and be held responsible. Coaches and players are alway held responsible for their mistakes.
