So that makes chanting "sucking that tiger dick bitch" ok? Solid reasoning.

I never condoned nor condemned the use of those chants. My point was that those of you who come on here ranting about the immaturity of the SS nowdays are either disingenuous, sanctimonious, or senile. I don't personally like the STTDB chants, but I'm not going to come on here with a Holier than Thou attitude and criticize the students.

Further, my point was that this has gone on for years, so why the uproar now?

There's a reason that the team gathers to sing the Alma Mater towards the SS at the end of home games...there's a reason that if we have to chose the ends of the field to play on, we pick the visitor having to march toward the SS when the chips are down...there's a reason the team tunnel is on the same side as of the stadium as the SS.

The wife and I have sat across from them all season. The SS has done a great job all season.

To add fuel to the fire, I am of the near to fifty crowd and I laugh my arse off when I hear STTD.

Bravo kids!

That's what makes LSU so great.

Want something boring go to the opera. If want to watch some football and have fun just slip on over to Death Valley on a Saturday night.

What the people here who criticize the SS tend to forget is that there is no football in Tiger Stadium without them. We are watching a "college" football game. Which means you are going to have to deal with a "college" crowd

The student section created STTDB because of the banning of Oh-e-oh. In 2009, Oh-e-oh was banned, but brought back briefly in 2010 before being banned again. STTDB was introduced in 2011 as a reaction and as a total insult to the administration that banned oh-e-oh. Once Neck was banned as well, it was on. STDDB became the rallying cry of the LSU student body against any University policy they didn't agree with (especially banning songs in Tiger Stadium). It became a joke to try to find a way to put STTDB in every school and Tiger Band song. The goal is to get the administration to realize that no matter what they do, no matter what they take away, the students will do what they want. If the administration had not banned oh-e-oh, there would be no STTDB. If there had been no banning of Neck, they wouldn't still be chanting it as it probably would have died off. The only reason students continued to chant it was because the song was banned.

The best way to get a college student to do something is ALWAYS to tell them not to do it.

And what they are trying to do is not going to work. It's like a bratty kid holding it's breath to get what it wants.

We only started STTDB after they took away OH Wee OH! Because we added "Cock" to the end of "you suck".

Wasn't "the controversy" originally over 'STTD', to which the students responded by adding "BITCH" at the end? (I thought that was an entirely appropriate and thoughtful response to the hand-wringing.)

30-70 year olds would actually take offense to their friend saying suck my dick. I tell my friends that all the time...it is a joke. It is really just a shocking way to say "hahaha I'm better than you, now accept your place in the world (at least until you score again)"

As a 50-something y.o. alum, I really have no problem with this. You crazy kids carry on!

OMG. Really? It's truly amazing that on the Rant Obama gets blamed for nearly as many things "wrong" w/ our program as Les Miles, for Christ's sake. Lame. STTDB.

Got news for ya, pops, they think for themselves and probably won't vote Republican. DWI.

Hey, remember that old "The Who" song? THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT.

yes, the bratty kid is not getting what he wants. However, the administration will never succeed in purging the vulgarity from the student section. It's like a kid throwing a tantrum in a store because his mom won't buy him a toy. Even if she doesn't buy the toy, everyone still loses.

Start inserting that chant into Pregame. It's a weird meter, but it can be done. They'll never, ever ban Pregame.

No, they'll probably never ban Pregame but they can move the the majority of the students to the upper decks and the upper deck people to the north end zone. Keep pushing the adminsistration's buttons and see how far they can go. OTHER universities give their students some upper deck tickets. LSU could too.

There ARE people that would love to move to the lower bowl.

It's an embarrassment to my university to hear that crap on TV. If it weren't for that, I wouldn't care.

Kids will be kids. It's their school, and their mommies and daddies are mostly paying for Skippy and Muffin's time there. I am quite thankful for the BS I was able to pull in my time in the SS. Too bad the football team was turbal back then, but we made the best of it. This was WAY before STTDB.

Not the chant literally. The fact that our kids are having some fun and blowing off some steam. This is time that those kids will never forget and they are by far the loudest section in the stadium.
If it makes us different or more intimidating, so be it.

If you don't smile when you see the USS Intercourse when you drive through campus then you might have been one of those students who does not have fond memories of campus life.

They are kids and I support a little crazy behavior from them. I would not hesitate to send my son or daughter here if they so desire.

In a few short years these kids will enter the workforce and start the grind of life. Live it up kids, life goes by too fast not to raise a little hell on the way.
