What years was this Mike guy there? I was there 1988-1991 and students had NICE seats. Always packed as well ... had to get there EARLY to ensure your spot.

Is one of the guys mentioned the one that wore the Lamont Roland jersey to the games?

He was there in the mid 90s from like 92 onward. I remember when students had those great seats. You could sit in the first few rows if you got there early enough. Though the later Dale days and early Brady days you could get there like ten minutes before most games and get a good seat in the lower level.

"bertman pulling it back from on top of the court to make room for douchebags in front of them and their arm candy."

Wrong answer, those Fukin pussies quit coming cause they don't support BB unless they're going to final 4 every year. They're still getting too many seats now if you ask me. At best they populate on average 25% of their allotted seats. Pitiful jus pitiful. Sidelines lowers 80/90% every game.at $1K per seat

I had a class with him. He was pretty awesome. He had Aspergers or something. I remember one day he forgot his pencil and was freaking out repeating "I forgot my pencil" over and over and getting progressively louder.

I would also see him in the gym and he would yell as loud as he could every time he did a rep. It was pretty damn funny.

He definitely was a super fan.

mike was running up and down the aisles when CJ was a freshman in 88. On another note, I'd see him in the old gym armory working out. That freak may have been able to squat a dump truck.

The student section (aka Roar Zone) put in a valiant effort last night. The old fogeys who have had their tickets for 20-30 years and leave 2-3 minutes before the game is over control the north side. They do not cheer or holler. We moved to sit nearer the student section because we like to get loud.

Two things: the famous four notes from the Bengal Brass Basketball Band illicits nothing from the basketball crowd. Why?

Yes, the old fogeys were leaving early even last night.

Let's not act like the student section is only unoccupied area of the PMAC. Why would they sit in the upper baseline sections when they can go sit in mid court lowers?

I don't think anyone is paying a grand a seat for season tickets.

I really wish they would give the students gold shirts like they used to. It looks so much better on tv and let you see how big the student section is.

You are wrong about that. With the exception of a handful of big games and the 2nd half of the 2006 season, thestudent section was mostly empty from 00-01 season to the 1st half of 08-09 season. I know the students who sat in the the lower rows during these years love to argue this fact but if you sat anywhere else it was very noticeable. Most games you were lucky to have 20 people in the upper students section that stretched from above the band to behind the goal.

I doubt he was there in '88 because he didn't graduate HS until '90. We went to the same HS, but I didn't have any classes with him since he was in the "special" classes. He always meant well and certainly supported our Tigers in the early '90s.

That image says it all. The student section standing there next to a bunch of old guys sitting down with laptops. The old game routine was all geared towards hyping up the crowd - the routine where they would read the paper during the opposing teams' lineup intro then throw them out when Shaq and CJ came out. Now we've actually got the students standing there right next to press writers. Thats some BS
