Still very optimistic on baseball. 3 or our 5 losses were in extra innings

As our bullpen matures, I think those EI losses start turning to wins. Am I pumping sunshine or do you feel the same way?

This team has the talent to be serious NC contenders. They have to cut out the mental mistakes and start playing sound baseball for that to happen though.

I am optimistic as well.

Big keys in the long run is how well the young pitchers mature (esp Godfrey & Stallings) and if our bats stay hot. Kind of expect Scivicque to level off some and Bregs to get hot.

We made an uncharacteristic slew of mental mistakes in the two losses this weekend. Hope that;s out of system.

It worries me that this team lacks the killer instinct of most championship caliber teams. On paper we may be better than A&M and player for player we're probably better. But unlike them, we haven't been able to come through in many pressure situations. Which is why we're now 2 full games behind them.

Most of the losses are due to coaching mistakes.

..that is worrisome.

I don't mind this slight swoon. As long as we are peak later in the season. I'm a big believer in not peaking too soon in college baseball, and fortunately, we're not doing that.

Agreed. Can't be emphasized enough.

the problem has been lsu cant hit in the clutch, especially in the extra inning games. whats basicly happening is lsu will have one of those games where everything they hit finds holes, but other days where they hit everything the speed of light right into fielders gloves like this weekend. The problem here is that they only get Stallings once, maaaaaaybe twice on a good day, every weekend and on days where they dodnt have a blowout going they need someone who can step in and make the other team STFD. so far that hasnt happened and it has resulted in 3 cases where lsu's pitchers ran out of gas in extras when lsu couldnt give them that clutch hit.

Sadly I agree. There were a few times this season where we have completely come up short in some important situations.

I'm very optimistic that this team can put together a lot of wins. Not sure if they can make it over the hump and win the really important ones though. It's a young team, it's to be expected at least pitching wise

UCLA was damn near perfect on defense. This team is far from that. Outfield and SS are damn good. Every other spot has been suspect. PM has decided to opt for offense over defense. When you do that, you better hammer and have excellent pitching.
