Is Josh going to play or is he getting a medical redshirt fro this year? If he is healthy I would love to have him!

Even if healthy it would be a mistake to play him. Not happening

I don't believe this type of redshirt is decided by NCAA until after the season. Supposidly, his scenario is typically granted an extra year though. Seems like he'd go that route.

I read on other rants from students in class with him, that he will not play and try to get a medical redshirt for next year. You can not play at all if trying for a 6th year medical redshirt

To get a medical redshift you have to play 20% or less of a season. He can play and still get the med

Unlike a normal redshirt you can participate but must be less then 20% of the season

seems I just read an article a few weeks ago that made playing in the BCS a possibility but if he did he would be able to get the 6th year. Also went on to say he is helping coach and will play next year.

I don't know the rules, but would the order of the injury and playing time matter?

Play <20% of season, get injured and sit out remainder of season seems to be the normal scenario for medical rs.

You are talking about sitting out due to injury, getting healthy and playing the remaining season (which happens to be <20%).

Again, I don't know the rules.

It doesn't make sense that a guy who has not played all year would suit up for one game anyway.

Medical Redshirt wouldn't be wise to play this game. Hopefully he'll get the extra year from the NCAA. If Randle and Montgomery stay and we get Dworaczyk back look out!

Medical redshirt. If he plays he won't be 100%. He will be an instant leader on next year's team.

I wouldn't want to see his first snap of the season coming on January 9.

He has already said that he isn't going to play. He might sit the game and not get the redshirt because Med redshirt is not something they have to give you. Two players in the same situation might apply and only one might get it. It isn't a hard and fast rule situation.

He is TRYING to get the Medical so playing would most likely not help his situation. I would say say it is probably 100% he doesn't get the rs if he plays in the NCG!
