You don't learn to read defenses until you actually get some playing time. For all the talk of Flynn being a 5th year senior last year, he struggled reading defenses. Stafford royally sucked his first two years. McCoy struggled last year. We all know how much JR struggled reading defenses in his early years.

There is no substitute for experience. There are very few young college QBs who walk in and light it up. Bradford comes to mind last year. But for most, it takes playing time before the light bulb comes on.

I'm not saying the light bulb will ever come on for Lee, but it is too early to pass judgment on him.

1. Your best defense is your offense. We have a vanilla offense. I understand Lee is young, but he has had two years to learn. How to play LSU???? I would put eight in the box and you would have to beat me with the pass.

Hmmmm...we are gashing them for 500 yards running the football, so we should A) go to 5-WR sets, chuck it around the field or B) throw in about 5 Boise St. trick plays to keep them off balance.

The offense SHOULD be vanilla if all you have to is hand it off to #32 and you run over an SEC defense. Why should we do anything else? If I remember correctly, we came out in empty and threw a pick 6.

Good job LSUGrad. I like the optimism. While the NC hopes for this year may be over, there's still a lot to play for and I also was proud of the fact that the Tigers, including Lee, had no quit in them. Geaux Tigers!

For pre-game, I didn't sense a lot of noise and anticipation. Don't give me the bullshite excuse about the day game and not being pumped up. That place should have been raucous in the minutes leading up to the game. It wasn't.

Half the stadium was still empty. The SS was almost all the why packed as well as most of the GA seats. A good bit of season ticket holders took their sweet time getting to the game. Not good.

Thanks...but I wouldn't call it "optimism" as much as I would call it "realism". It is all going to be OK. I just hate all the irrational people here who speak out of lack of knowledge of anything that is going on.

With the talent we've got, the team can come out of this season in good shape provided it doesn't lose heart.

I don't think this will be a problem. Unlike many of the ignoramuses around here who think the season should be shut down immediately, the players DON'T think like that. They know there is plenty to play for, they play hard for Miles, and they will not tank it.

Precisely. We vaulted up the polls not based on what we did as much as what the teams ranked ahead of us were doing (losing). Once we were ranked in the top 3, delusion set in amongst the masses big time. There is nothing wrong with being hopeful...sure we were in a great spot ranked that high. Just don't get all bent out of shape you lose a couple of games that you were probably supposed to lose anyway.

I certainly hope you were not one of the several thousand rantards on here bitching last week about our first play of the game always being a hand-off to Scott. Can't have it both ways. The fuss should be why we didn't run the ball down 21-17 near the end of the half when we were gashing them with the run, and big Mo was changing sidelines. That interception was more costly, IMO, than the two pick-sixes.....

This was the most rational thread I've seen started on the Rant in quite a long time.

The sky isn't falling. We're not on a downward slide as a program. Some people really need to get some perspective.

We have a vanilla offense.......................yet, we had 500 yds of offense and 38 pts. In fact, our offense scored the same amount of points as Georgia's offense.......and had more yards. We need to cut down on turnovers..........specifically those interceptions, and create turnovers on the defensive side.

Anybody remember the troubles Florida had last season...............................?

One season later, it doesn't look like they've slid into oblivion.

We have a young quarterback and a young and inexperienced defensive secondary. We are going to have to take our lumps, and that is it, period. If we finish this season with only 2-3 losses, I'd say we've done a helluva job.

my main problem with your post is that you actually think peveto and mallory are doing a good job. they are not. they are failing and peveto fails all the time.

they should not be back in any form that is just crazy. I don't give a frick if they are doing the best they can. I'm sorry at LSU I expect results and not just to hear well im in over my head and i gave it the best i could. No sorry that is a ole miss excuse not a LSU excuse.

Agree.
That would be OK in a charitable organization or in a kid's league.....
THIS IS A TOP SEC SCHOOL....
AND A BUSINESS.
...not acceptable
