cooled down on Kirby Smart.

Recruitingjunkie
It's hard for me to say this and I've held my tongue all season but the guys just doesn't have it anymore. He's a solid DC In CFB as a whole and stats don't lie top 10 defense every year but he is regressing. The decisions he makes are almost sad. He feels the need to blitz a safety when we are already in man coverage? No true pass rusher ever on the field. You have Evans and Tim Williams chilling on the bench. Zero pass rush, no plan to ever contain, mismatch all day in soft coverage because he feels the need to put a 260 LB in coverage. ABOVE ALL: the single most frustrating thing that smart/Saban will not budge on is the secondary. Dre Kirkpatrick and Demarcus milliner are not out there anymore. Play to your players strengths not set them up for failure by ignorantly continuing to get your shite pushed in on bomb throws and wide open guys across the middle. Pruitt may be the answer but I think we burned that bridge

Maybe its just the fans that are all wrong???

Their LB's are pretty fat though.

They better ride with it because Steele isn't setting a foot on our sideline or the pressbox for that matter and that's a fact.

For a defensive back "guru", saban's secondary has been really bad the last two years.

The DC on a saban coached team has always been a figurehead. Blame saban.

They are built to stop the run from LSU that's why. No one else in the conference, well maybe Arkansas, plays smash mouth

Saban built his defense for one thing, that is to stop the run.

His Lbs are more like DL than complete LB in the NFL, notice how well they do in the NFL?

He is using LB types as SS and notice how well they do in the NFL?

I told this to everyone in 2009, just pass on them and they will have a hard time winning a game.

Good point.

Also, this could be the end of the SEC dominant defenses.
After the Iron Bowl, where the teams put up 99 points & 1170 yards of offense, I REALLY started questioning just how good the SEC was.
I think we are in for a major shift in college football dominance, the days of the SEC walking over other power 5 teams are over.
We have to give thanks for the BCS era, it helped build the programs that we have today but I see it all going away.

That is Saban's defense not Kirby Smart's.

I've never understood the love affair with any of the DCs under Saban. They are essentially figureheads, with NS being the DC in fact. Sure, they may be running Saban's system so there may be a desire to buy the knowledge, but Saban's calling the shots.

That's why when his defense gets shredded (like last night), you don't see him lighting up the DC, because he knows it's all on him.

That may be so but the Bama fateful sure are hating on KS this AM. And it sounds like it has been building for awhile.

They lost two linebackers last night. What would LSU look like if you took out our top two linebackers?
