Someone explain how Mathieu is highest paid Safety in the NFL

I love me some Honey Badger but for the life of me I can't figure out how his agent got him paid as the highest safety in the NFL.
Dude has proven he can't stay healthy and on the field. He had been placed on IR for the 3rd time in 4 years.

He was the best safety in the league last year, and then became the highest paid safety in the league. The relationship between the two is pretty obvious, frankly.

When is that? Sample size seems awful small for such an investment.
More like the Cards got sold the hype of the young man reclaiming his life, which is great.
The point of the post was not to cut Mathieu down, but more in awe that an NFL franchise threw that kind of money at a less than reliable player health wise. You usually don't see this in the hard core "what have you done for me lately" league knows as the NFL.

Great when on field, but he isnt going to play very long in the NFL. At some point these injuries will take a toll on a guy that is 5.8" 185 and is only a good, not great athlete
