He's taking a leave of absence...during the offseason? Isn't the offseason a leave of absence in itself?

This just seems like a non news story being thst it's February and not even spring practice has started.

There are off-season workouts and obligations for players on scholarship. Not to mention nosy beat writers were already mentioning his absence at workouts. Better to get in front of the issue.

There are still team activities going on. He apparently missed a conditioning thing yesterday.

I didn't play football. I played baseball.

I understand there's offseason workouts but I just don't get why it's news. He's a stud and, if the media is honest with themselves, he doesn't even need to be there. It's not like he won't be ready come August.

It might not seem like a big deal but it kind of is. Football is a year round sport. I counted the amount of weeks we had off in high school and it came to be around 4-5. 3 weeks for holiday break. 2 weeks for summer. Missing out on weights and conditioning can really frick you.

He's arguably our best player. Him not being with the team at all is news

Let the kid sort out his personal life. We have no idea what is going on and trying to guess is futile.

I get what you are saying but I seriously doubt he is going just be hanging out not working out. He is taking time away from the team not working out.

It's nearly impossible to work out on your own and get the same results as if you were being coached and monitored. Not to mention if he has an issue significant enough to take time out from the team, his S&C program isn't going to be a high priority.

Sometimes it's best not to ask questions

Yes and no. We'd have players that went onto play college ball and while they were visiting home would come to our practice facility and workout. Players on break can still get proper workouts back home.

He's a young man with a personal issue that he and the university want to keep private at the moment as they have the right to. Just relax baws

High school football. The peak of most of this board's lifetime achievements.

its probably to focus on academics.

I dont think its a big deal.

Now if he misses the summer too then I will start to get a little worried.

I doubt he will be going to the local SNAP fitness. His strentth an conditioning is his meal ticket unless their is some really serious stuff going on it will still be a high priority.

I'm not worried about him being ready to play.
Despite not being able to report for the summer
because he wasn't cleared in time, he was the
feshman most prepared when the season started.

He probably failed a bunch of drug test like he did before the TAMU game. CEO probably knew this kid had a great future and doesn't want to kick him off the team. Probably making him go to rehab and focus on himself for awhile.
