Even that can be misleading.
Is it fully the defence's fault if they allowed those scores on drives within their own 10 yard line because of offensive turnovers? That would account for both the fewer yards and the higher score.

I agree, people just get too caught up with the yards stat. I am sure that yds allowed and pts allowed are highly correlated, but I will always remember Bob "I am a huge whiny douche" Stoops at the BCSNCG when being asked about facing the #1 defense and he replied "Well they are only #1 in scoring defense, we are #1 in total defense." And I remember thinking, "well, that does a whole lot of good if you give up more pts than other teams."

I question your numbers. Its pretty clear we are in 12th place in the SEC in all catigories. Just read the rant.
