So who will replace Shawn Forrest as basketball assistant?

I was hoping that Mike Sanders would be a part of this staff. Maybe now there is a spot for him.
NBA veteran, played with Johnny at Deridder, played at UCLA, Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, current big-man coach in the NBA with the Utah Jazz.

The Randy Livingston talk could get fired back up as well.

Who was that AAU guy that got a lot of play along with RL when Johnny was hired? Would he be good?

no Randy Livingston, no care

RL has not been hired at LSU more than once...Maybe he's not a good fit for college coaching.

Quannas White. Could be a good fit. Has never coached in college, but there are a lot of AAU coaches that go straight from AAU to college. Johnny Jones coached his brother Josh at North Texas.

I liked white, but with Kirby on board seems redundant
I expect a quick hire because I suspect this may have been known for a bit

I really hope they don't promote Kelsey (basketball ops guy they just hired), but I'm sure that is an option on the table.
Hate to put it like this, because I like Livingston, but he can be an easy fall back option for this job. It's fairly evident that he would jump at it at anytime regardless of the current state of things.

Sanders was always my favorite choice as an assistant. If we can't get him I'd like a guy with Texas ties to replace Forrest.

I think Butch has to be the top assistant wherever he goes. Obviously Kirby is No.1 at LSU, so I doubt a lead assistant would leave a good job to be the No.2 guy.

I agree bubba. Quannas has the local talent. According to the folks that attended the memorial day classic which is a huge aau tournament in Houston, his 16 u team with skylar mays won the championship with only 5 players. This is the kind of recruiter and coach we need.
