I don't really give a shite about which one of these cats starts. I just think people overrated Jai because of how much hype he had in high school, the Michigan saga, his towel waving, and all the stupid sayings and facebook groups people make about him.

People like Danny McCray and Chris Hawkins are crucified because of their mistakes here and there, a lot of which are attributed to coaching mistakes. However, people just can't seem to explain why they are consistently on the field. Huh, who knows? The reason people overly criticize them is because they want to see guys like Chad Jones, Brandon Taylor, Jai, etc. start ahead of them because they THINK they are better football players.

Unless Jai has greatly improved, its Hawkins and Peterson. The guy is a good athlete no doubt, and maybe he suffered due to poor coaching last year (as the entire defensive unit did)but Hawkins was in position to make plays more often than Jai. He just had trouble making a play on the ball. His upside is greater than Jai.

Anybody but Hawkins. Seriously, the guy has a bad first step, gets beat consistently and can never recover with his lack of speed. I credit the safeties (esp. CJ) with covering up a shitload of weakness on Hawkins' part.

Plus, Hawkins is VERY lanky and not a great tackler. Has anyone seen him in person? First time I did, I thought he was on the basketball team. Eugene is going to have a breakout year and the guy has the potential to be a tank.

CBs with a low center of gravity are very underrated because everyone thinks that a tall WR will usually own them. Taller CBs are CBs and not wideouts for a reason...lack of speed. Go with JAI all day everyday...

Webster should have left after his Jr year, Prude wasn't a starter at CB that season, and Steltz is a safety....we are talking STARTING CBs

I read this whole rant and I was waiting for someone to state the obvious. Without pressure even A Dick from Arkansas can complete touchdown passes. Where were the safeties? I am not going to bash either player. Twice our defense gave up over 50 points. They were run over, passed over, and picked more than any team in LSU history. Chris has decent cover skills, as for as Jai is concerned, he has never lived up to his hype. Hopefully, if the entire defense can be co-ordinated and play up to the potential, 2008 won't happen again. Corners will get beat if the QB has all day to look down the field.

so Webster was a garbage cb his senior season? How about Daniels who's had bad games before.

exactly, but he improved and became a very good corner for us

ok, he is still a starting DB who blew his coverage. And no, we're talking backup cb with Jai Eugene

what does that even mean? for a guy set to begin his junior year, I'd say he's done pretty well for himself and could do even more if given the PT he's deserved.....i agree with the pressure being huge and we were not getting there last year...bottom line...good point

He ain't "deserved" shite, he has to EARN IT!

Obviously the coaches don't think he has earned it yet and thus that is why he is 2nd string!!
