Pretty true what you say.... but I liken "some" LSU fan's feelings about this game to OU fan's feelings about the 2001 BCS game --- some believe this is not a tough game.... I'd have to disagree with that.... whomever wins LSU or "O" should be pretty happy because they will have beaten a quality opponent for sure.

Where on earth could they have gotten that idea?

This is sort of like LSU fans (who throw urine filled baloons) calling Florida fans arse holes.

I'm with you. I'm excited for the game, and I like our chances, but in no way am I expecting a cake walk. Oregon is a legit opponent and in a 1 game situation, they can beat anybody.

Call it what you want but from my time in LA and from the many people I work with that came up to my office after Katrina confident would definitely be the minimal interpretation of the average LSU fan. Just read this board. 1 out of 20 LSU fans think it will think it's going to be a decent game and the rest think it's a warm up.

One thing I have found in my travels is stupidity abounds. Most of these folks have no clue what the average person in Louisiana is really like.

See this is bs. I see a lot of people write if we get good play from jj it will be a warmup, if we dont it will be close and could lose.

But time to prepare favors JJ and Les miles.

I was surprised how dumb and ignorant folks were on my travels out west. You have people who think new orleans isnt even in Louisiana. Plus i told people i was from baton rouge and they were like where is that, i say close to new orleans and they think we are still under water or something.

Plus not to mention all the freeloaders out there who think they are sticking it to society with only their clothes on their back and have to beg others for food.

I got a kick out of the "hillbillies" quip, myself..

That's such an antiquated term, anyway. What's next? Will they accuse us all of listening to "acid rock" between now and the actual game???

BTW- I've been around a little while, and I've never personally witnessed opposing fans getting pelted with pissbombs, either. So I seriously doubt it's at the epidemic proportion some say it is- if it even happens at all.

Many folks here are no different than people in the south, and have never left their region. They take stereotypes and believe them to be true for the general population.

They act as if they "almost" beat Auburn, so therefore they were better than everyother SEC team. Do they realize that LSU was tied with Auburn midway through the 4th quarter at Jordan-Hare Stadium, there's no difference in our 7 pt loss or their 3 pt loss except that we didn't get to play them at a neutral field.
Auburn was able to overcome Oregon at the death because their offense was pretty damned good. They had more weapons than "just Cam" and they needed it, because Cam had a shitty game. So did Oregon's QB, FWIW. I was at the LSU Auburn game at JH, and the only thing that kept LSU competitive was the punter. He kept Auburn pinned deep after every LSU 3 and out, and there were a lot of those. Granted it was AT Auburn, but SEC day game crowds aren't really the factor that the night crowds are. Oregon was better than LSU last year, IMHO.

Now this season? Who knows. Play ball and find out.

What's ignorant is this statement. LA consistently ranks in the bottom 10-20% for just about every academic testing standards across all grades. Just because people don't care about the geography of the south doesn't make them dumb, although there are plenty of dumb people everywhere. When I lived in New Orleans I can't tell you how many times I had people ask where Oregon was? Or how many people think it rains all the time there when in reality 2/3rds of the state is desert and hardly gets any rain.

Yes New Orleans is most definitely not filled with those type of people.
