A HR yesterday.

Is that correct?

I missed the entire series, but just read box scores and game summaries.

aTm gave us a game.

Wow.

I was looking for the silver lining in the series loss, and I thought I found it with all the runners we left on base, then the reality of the fact that it appears we scored ONE earned run in three games hit me.

Hopefully this team does what our 2008 team did....

Goes from "unclutch" to "clutch" towards the end of the SEC season.

It can happen. They are definitely giving themselves chances.

A&M did not give us the game Saturday. LSU went out and took it. Lange pitched great and Kramer came through twice in the clutch. The error when the game winning run scored on could have been ruled a hit and probably would have if it was a home game.

If you didn't watch the games and just read the box score don't assume you know how a team won. In the Saturday game Kramer was 0-5 with 1 rib but anybody who watched knows without him and Lange they don't win that game.

Need to see a shift in offensive mentality with runners on. Too many guys reaching base only to be left stranded

I guess the silver lining is that our starting pitchers looked much better than they had the previous few weeks.

Yep, we need to bunt every time the lead off guy gets on base.

LSU outhit them in 2 of 3 games. Even with the lopsided first game, the total hits on the weekend were within 1 of each other. This was on the road with a very young team. Things need to improve, but it's closer than you think.

Yep. Bunts and steal galore. This team cannot score runs by hitting so it must manufacture them. Anyone who isn't on TeamBunt this year is a dumbass.

Actually it appears the run in game 1 was also earned so 2 ER but I get what you're saying.

aTm ERA for the weekend of 0.667. They are not that good...

We helped them al lot. Lack of timely hits and base running mistakes are not our friend with this light hitting team.

That said, we're young and can only grow

Maybe we should let guys like Bryce Adams have a legit shot. You have to have somebody that can drive the ball for extra base hits.

I'll never understand Paul's love of 5'9 first basemen.

The Earned run in game one came from their RF losing a routine fly ball in the lights.

I agree, but the problem is not getting them on. I think everyone is satisfied, maybe even a bit surprised at how well this team has gotten on base.

Or, you know, the guy who's actually proven to hit well in the clutch and hit some for power... Romero... 1 plate appearance.

I don't think Bryce Adams helps this line up. Romero needs to be in the lineup somehow but I can't justify him catching every day because Pap is that good defensively and hitting enough.

No doubt, but it was scored a hit. On paper we had 2 ER, in reality 1 was truly earned unless hanging a pitch also doesn't count...

Maybe some stats on the efficacy of stealing would work here

ONE ER, two ER...no big difference.

This team is young, mistake prone and needs to figure out how to get better contact on the ball. We made aTm's pitchers look better than they are. Our pitching improved, we'll get better but there is frustration ahead.

Yep. LSU doesn't struggle to get baserunners. They struggle scoring runs. A big part of that is inexperience. I'll give Cano a pass on skill development to manufacture runs because the team is young. Mainieri will never be a reliable situational manager.

Has Romero cross trained at 1B? Seems like an obvious spot for him when he's not giving Pap a breather at catcher.

I'm as much a hater of 5'9'' first baseman as there is but Bryce Jordan saved us a handful of times on awful throws in the dirt. I'll take him over a 6'4'' first baseman who can't move.

They'll get better. unfortunately so will our competition. The schedule is brutal this year.

Paul's teams have taken the choke in the big moment mentality for quite a few years now.

This team seams to learn much faster than most as the teams of the last few years have choked in the post season.
