Dude. Come on now. Barkley was never a top 10 pick. Never. And don't tell me that Kiper had him #1 on his big board. I don't care. Kiper also had Jimmy Flipping Clausen as teh #4 overall ranked player in the draft in 2010.

He was projected possibly the #1 overall pick after his jr season. I'm not making that up. You can disagree if you want, however, that is what most draft experts were saying at that time. Does that mean anything? nope. J.R., Alex Smith, etc were #1 picks.

The point, barkley regressed under kiffin.

Orgeron and Kiffen on the same staff? I can already see the major recruiting violations coming out as Saban announces his retirement to get out of dodge

Yes, cause USC is facing new sanctions based on their recent time there together......

Seems like everyone seeks to think Bama is the "mecca" for football. Yes, Bama has been successful over the past few years, but not over the last century. I sense that something is "slipping" at Bama and the success will begin to diminish a good deal as other SEC teams (and those outside the conference) begin to rise or strengthen. Could it be that being at the top is followed by a slippage to the mundane or mediocrity, and the "edge" a team once had is lost? No matter how many great coaches a team has, or how many #5 recruits are playing, it cannot be predicted by the input that the output is going to be the same or great. The more efficient a system has, the more forces are in place for entropy to occur. Regardless of the control people have, the more apt control is lost. We need to shed this "Bamaphobia" and get back to some faith in the ability of LSU to take what it has and make the best of it. Perhaps--if we were to classify a rantard the same way biological specimens were--we would have to add "Bamaphobic" as a criterion based on this thread.

I would imagine Orgeron, like Kiffin, has head coaching aspirations. Don't view either as long term Bama hires.

By who? I understand that Kiper and guys who work for ESPN were projecting him there. I'm saying that it doesn't appear that any NFL GM ever projected him as a top 10 pick. You don't go from top 10 to 4th round based on ONE year. Some GM would have taken him late first or second round based on his first 3 years if he was THAT good. They - the people who make their living in football - would have understood the drop-off (perceived or real) was the result of coaching (perceived or real) and would have drafted the talent. He isn't a top 10 talent...and I like Barkley.

And, by the way, Kiffin was his coach his JR year, too, when, according to you, he was projected as a top 10 pick.

We're losing enough top-flight LA recruits to BAMA as it is, and this guy is one of the best recruiters in the nation with deep ties to LA.

You can have a team full of five-stars, but without coaching they won't be anything special. Both Kiffin and Yaw-Yaw are serious downgrades coaching-wise from who Bama had in before.

And that may well end up being detrimental to the Bama program. Either of these guys gets asked by a recruit if they intend to stay at Bama or if they want to be a head coach somewhere else, they're going to lie to the recruit or have to state what everyone knows is the truth.

ok, man, you win. I don't have the energy or the time to go try to prove something to someone i don't care nor would it change their mind about what they think.

I'll take your word you know n.f.l. g.m's and confirmed.

Kiffin is stud, he's had so much success everywhere he's been. happy?

Saban is not hiring Orgeron IMO. He is interviewing UGA DL coach today. O left Tuscaloosa without an offer, or he turned one down.

We lost one player, then told the other Adams took his spot. So I don't really see bama signing all these LA recruits. Tamu has more from LA than any other sec school not named LSU.

Exactly. They can still only sign 25. I don't know how much more they can take from La. Saban basically cherry picks from all states. LF is the only one from La they really wanted but didn't get.

I just don't get all of the panic. LSU needs to make the right changes and not worry about Bama.

The #1 priority in college fb is recruiting. The landscape has now changed (rookie contracts) making it even more critical to stockpile talent. Saban is adjusting and so are we.

Oh I'm not saying that.

I'm just saying Barkley didn't fall from "top 10" to 4th round just because of a down season. He wasn't a top 10 talent anyway and then he had shoulder injury concerns for some teams. He also had a chance to show in private workouts that he was better than that one down season. he didn't do it.

Read this whole thread and the only conclusion is that Orgeron and Kiffin suck but we are screwed now that they are at Bama. How bout we just outwork them and handle our own business. The sky is not falling(thanks Fournette!). And you Bama haters need to cheer and give thanks for Gus at Auburn. He is the equalizer in all things Bama.
