Holy hell. The similarities are staggering. QB arrests, championship appearances, the SEC championship game oppenent...

What else am I missing. This is pretty cool.

Yeah, the season is just a formality at this point. The outcome has been predetermined.

Because of this weird 4-year cycle for LSU, what it means is that every single kid that has signed with LSU since 2000 (and stayed for at least 4 years) ended up being a member of a team that played in the National Championship Game.

You would think that would be a nice tidbit to attract potential recruits. Of course, if we don't make it this year, the streak will end with the 2012 signees.

2002 season we lost to TX in the Cotton Bowl, so no.

You could make a case for Conference Championship Appearances are needed in the odd year directly prior to the 4 year cycle to complete the season with a National Championship.

01-SECCG Appearance
03-NC
05-SECCG Appearance
07-NC

09-No SECCG Appearance
11-BS
13-No SECCG Appearance
15-???

But no one wants to hear that.

or would the argument be that you need your starting QB knocked out of the SECCG in the odd year prior to the 4 year run to win a NC...these 4 year cycles are getting confusing.

And UT has been picked by several experts to represent the East this year

I'm not so sure they still stand the same chance. They have had several season ending injuries and off the field issues with their starters and key contributors.

We have a legit shot this year if Harris plays good.

Only thing different about the 4 year cycle this year is that the natty won't be in the superdome this year I don't think.

It's in Glendale, Arizona this year and Tampa, FL in 2016-2017. Sugar Bowl is one of the semi final games for 2017-2018.
