Charging for cups of ice. What a joke

For real. I’m looking into starting a business that gives away cups and ice.

I see what you did there.

Whatever fans think about consessions doesn't matter to LSU for the next 10 years. Contract guarantees LSU $2.5M per year which is far more than LSU has ever made on sales.

NFL teams have sued Aramark to get out of the contract. LSU can too, but so doubt they care what fans think

That is not true. They award from RFP, so there is play in the award. Believe me, LSU picked Aramark. More kickback to the school. LSU does not give AF.

Alleva and other LSU brass should put on disguises and go through a line once during a typical game. Maybe take a leak in the bathrooms and try to catch the game on one of the concourse TV's while they wait in line. Just to see what the fan experience is like.

But they'll never do that. As long as people keep eating the shite sandwich, they'll continue to serve it.

Couple of things. From working the concession stands through HS (and no, it was not before the horseshoe was closed in)

Sales of drinks are tracked by cup inventory. No cups or cups of ice can be given away. We would always fill up cups of ice for tips (those went in our pocket)

Concessions are now being run by a company that hires workers that can't get fast food jobs. Used to be school groups and other organizations that used the work to raise money. So you've gone from HS kids (and parents) to being staffed by people that make even Alleva appear intelligent. They are largely unemployable other than these jobs.

Aramark isn't going to overorder, anything they don't sell has to be stored for a week or weeks between games. They will order enough to meet their guarantee to LSU and whatever predetermined take they calculate ahead of time and not a bottle of water more.

You can easily do the math on how much they are making on a bottle of water and a bag of peanuts, I promise it pales in comparison to what they make on soft drinks. Almost pure profit-the syrup costs next to nothing, ice next to nothing, cups are the only cost and they are pennies.

LSU DGAF about anyone's opinion as long as the sheeple continue to flock in, renew season tickets, pay the fees, pay to park, and buy out the concessions every game. The only way to make your point is to just say no. I gave up my 4 I'd had in the Easy Upper oven since opening when both boys were in school at LSU and haven't missed them one little bit. That money I'm not spending pays for a nice vacation and then some.

Anyone else get a refill and have them use your dirty cup to scoop the ice?

My wife got a large coke yesterday. Nothing else Credit card statement says 11.50 was charged. She should have checked but it's fricking simple.

This happened to me as well. Except I saw it and told them they made a mistake, then they ignored me. I stood there and held up the line and made my point and they said "no that didn't happen" then started taking someone else's order. I said frick it and waited for it to show up on my credit card statement, now I'm gonna call the management and yell at them about how ignorant their workers are

They had no trouble with my card, which is what I used so I could pay the outrageous tab off in monthly installments.

Aramark gonna Aramark

If they aren't properly managed, things will turn to shite. Just like every other business on this planet.

So yes, this is on LSU for giving too long of a leash.

Dont get me started on the concessions this year. LSU approved Aramark to sell us a huge middle finger.

My experience comes from the West Upper deck, where my family and I have been a season ticket holder for close to twenty years.

Let's start with the BBQ Bayou burger ($9) versus the hamburger ($7). Does anyone want to guess what warrants the extra $2? Yet thats right, BBQ sauce and pickles. fricking pickles and bbq sauce. You still have to dress your own burger regardless of which burger you purchase.

I am a man who enjoys his hot nuts, and a coke during the game. I stand in line for 10 minutes to get my cajun peanuts to be told that I can only get them at one concession stand up there. Why after 20 fricking years are they only stocking one concession stand in the west upper with cajun peanuts. I think its the same for other concession items also.

I tend to agree and charging 6 dollars is definitely criminal. Look, you want to gouge your fans on cokes, burgers and nachos fine. But at at least offer water at a fair price. I can buy a 32 pack of nestle water at Walmart for 4 bucks. That is 12 and half cents a bottle. That is what someone pays retail. No telling what LSU could buy it for wholesale. Now if they sold them for 2 dollars a bottle I don't think anyone would complain and your still making a huge profit. When your talking game with heat like yesterday and 90 to 100,000 people crammed into the stadium it becomes a safety issue IMO.

I'm the treasurer for a youth sports group. Our concession stand sells the 16.9 oz bottles of water. We get them delivered to us for $2,99 for a 24 pack. 12 cents a bottle. We make 88 cents on every bottle of water. It's like a 700 percent markup. Nothing else we sell comes even close to that.

And we are happy.

Now I understand contracts require a certain brand to be sold, and they have to make money, LSU has to make money, etc.

But anything more than $3 a bottle is just greedy.
