We could tote the rock, that's for damned sure. Herb could run, too, baw, and they were behind (in 1997, anyway), McClure, Faneca, Thomassie, and Alcender Jackson. (1997 had freshmen OL like Trey Langley, Louis Williams, Brandon Winey, and Dwayne Pierce.

We had RBs and OL for days.

I know Saban got us a trophy, but it was Dinardo who brought the magic back. The return of the white jerseys, football games not depressing, campus electric. We went bat shite when we became bowl eligible, then KF3/Kennison owned shite in the snow at the independence.

We had some great RB talent around then. OL has some good players too.

I believe the 98 season went south because Faneca left, though Tepper had a lot to do with it.

Faneca comes back we beat -

Georgia (lost by 1)
Kentucky (lost by 3)
Ole Miss (lost in OT)
Alabama (lost by 6 on fluke tip TD catch if I recall)
Notre Dame (lost by 3)

And then you have to look at the other losses differently as well because the team has confidence, etc.

It was beautiful. Until I heard Cecil's femur crack. Cheap fricking shot.

Cecil Collins was one of the best RBs I've ever seen when at his best.

Greatest two-and-a-half game RB in LSU history.

Do you get paid by the comma or something?

And learn how to spell "Mealey's" "damn" name.

The games were exciting too because our secondary could disappear for weeks. It was not exactly good football, we never beat anybody consistently, but we could beat anybody on any given night. A lot different from the mentality that we've had the last 15 years - expecting to win every game.

If you think our QB play was bad recently... nothing could possibly have been worse than Jamie Howard against Auburn. Just youtube it. It's almost comical. 5 ints 3 pick sixes. the only saving grace was that instead of regularly playing on espn and cbs like we do now the games were on jefferson pilot. the point is we are way better now than we were then

Who was the offensive coordinator who had him continue throwing when the Tigers had built a 4th quarter lead?

Lynn Amadee was the OC for the Au pick 6.6.6

The most frustrating thing about that loss, was that Auburn could not do ANYTHING on offense.

We only had all four of those in the same backfield for one game, or maybe two. Collins was suspended for the first game in '97. Faulk was hurt for the next couple. I think the only game we had all four was against Vanderbilt that year. In that game, Collins got hurt and we won 7-6 by blocking an extra point in the final seconds.
