This offense needs a Cam Newton or Tim Tebow to be successful.

Good enough to be the first one in when Mett got taken out of a couple of games for some plays.

I don't understand why we don't see our "next QB" in the early blow out games playing all of 3rd and/or 4th to get experience!
Wounldnt Mett has gotten significant snaps last year? Wouldn't he have been better this year b/c of it?

Yes he probably will . For how long I'm not sure . I don't know if it's just a fantasy but I think one of the two incoming qbs is gonna be special . Wishful thinking I know

2011- early season was trying to get JL up to speed after not playing much in 2010
2011- late season was wasting snaps by JJ, who had been selected by the brain trust to be the QB for the march to the promised land
2012- an inexperienced ZM needed all the snaps early to be prepared to hand off three times in a row to ensure that Bama got a chance to get the win that ensured NS's legacy

Nah, Rettig and Jennings will move in over him next year as the number 2A and 2B, and then whoever outperforms the other in the 2's, they'll get the starting job in 2014.

Bolden is rumored to be one of the transfers, though. He gone.

There's Kragthorpe's son, but he's more of a coach's understudy; a clipboard holder.

Rivers has massive genetic pedigree. His bro is a repeated pro bowler and his dad was pretty awesome too. But Philip is 6'5". His bro is now reported to be 6'8". He grew an inch last year.

And we think Mett has stone feet. There are very few successful qb's w/ a height of 6'8" (especially caucasian). But we will see I guess. He will have his shot and his pedigree is too much to overlook. Sure glad Les keeps bringing in that OL talent. We will need it.

But 2013 is all Mett. He has proven he is bout ready. He will train angry all offseason, wanting to redeem from the Clemson and Bama loses in particular (one of the plus sides of the Clemson loss). He has proven he can roll, now he just needs to be consistent, and quit worryin bout all the poon he keeps poundin. He had an above average first year for sure, especially vs SEC defenses.

Mett crow hops in 2013. Book it!

Said this a million times. 2011 had plenty of opportunities for Mett to play. 2012 not so many for Rivers. We need to get 2nd and 3rd string QB's some reps when able.

Is there any reason to believe this other than him being the son of a coach?

Take a look at our first five games in 2012 and let me know if you think you couldn't find some game time for Rivers / anyone else. How important do you think it was in the grand scheme of things for Mett to play with a concussion?
