In fact, Alleva got the Duke job because he was a buddy of Coach K.

Y'all act like making home run hires is just so simple. It's an inexact science which is even harder in sports your school isn't a major power in. Trent had as good a resume as you could ask for, Nikki was considered a grand slam at the time and JJ was forced on him.
He deserves criticism for how the Miles thing went down (regardless of which side of the fence you sit on that) but as usual the tiger rant goes WAY over the top in blaming this guy for all our dissapointments.

Bottom line, since he was hired in 08:
Football = slightly down
Basketball. = down
Baseball. = about the same
Track = slightly down?
WBB. = way down
Softball. = slightly up
Gymnastics. = up?
Golf. = up?
Swimming/tennis/W soccer?
I understand when he took over there really was no where to go but down in football (07 NC), baseball (top 5 program), track (top 3-5 program), and WBB (top 3-5program) but only 1 of those sports are operating at that level today.
But at the end of the day it seems we aren't quite where we were across the board when we he was hired IMO.

Well, according to you. I've never heard anyone else imply this.

I think there are fair criticisms to make but I think you also have to look at
A- how much an AD can actually do, and
B- the context of the decisions he has made at the time he made them
