So Alleva's Claim To Fame Is A Coach He Didn't Hire?

Is this correct?
I keep hearing that Alleva, due to the fact that he came from Duke, has a "basketball mind" because he came from the best CBB school.
Great.
But Alleva didn't hire Coach K, did he. Tom Butters did. Is that correct?
If so, WTF is Alleva's claim to fame other than being an SJW AD?

I don't trust Alleva to make another MBB hire, but after this disaster I can not support CJJ coaching the team for another season. It it a very shitty time to be an LSU bball fan right now.

I took my TV off of mute yesterday to hear what the announcers were saying about our team that obviously quit.
I hate the abuse LSU takes from biased announcers in all sports but baseball, but the things they were saying yesterday were painfully true.
I hate if for JJ because he is an LSU guy through and through, but he cannot do a lot of the basics as a coach.
JJ, Alleva, and the media, pretty much put our program on probation again yesterday. It will take years for LSU to overcome the 2015-2016 season.

Alleva is nothing more than a $200.00 haircut. If it weren't "LSU" or "Duke" on his business card, it would be State Farm. Most ADs are the same. The past fiasco with football and the collapse of the basketball program indicate it's time for a change.
We need a strong competent manager, NOW. Alleva and JJ need to go, asap. Incompetence is one thing. Repeated national embarrassment is another. Worse, I'd be surprised if the behind the scenes issues don't begin to surface.
This is the test. Where do we prioritize basketball?

Honestly, I think we can pick a random fan from the stands to coach each basketball game and do just as well as JJ.
Granted, random fan may not recruit like JJ, but I don't think the actual coaching would drop off much.

And while at Duke, he successfully destroyed their second best sports program due to his love for being an SJW.
If I recall correctly, Duke Lacrosse, at the time, was THE top Lacrosse program in the NCAA.

To be fair, here is what I have for Alleva-
- Nikki Caldwell- EVERYONE thought this was a home run hire; no one expected her to quit recruiting
- Trent Johnson- terrible fit and was fools gold at Stanford; bad hire on Alleva
- Beth Torina- absolute home run hire and she was after Murphy the Bama legend backed out last minute (would have been another home run)
- Johnny Jones- we all know this wasn't Alleva's hire; the good ole boys let Alleva fail with his guy (TJ) and forced theirs in
- the Les Miles debacle falls all on him as well; did he have Jimbo wrapped up and the info leak killed it? If Alleva had Les out and Jimbo in, he would've been a hero on this board. Still, you have to drop this at Alleva's feet, even if F. King fricked him over.
In all, the only awful hire you can put on him is really TJ. JJ was not him and Nikki just flat out quit. Hard to blame him for that one.
He absolutely should be crucified on the Les Miles extension and the cluster that was the end of last football season. He has decided to give Nikki another year. We will see on JJ, although if JJ stays, Alleva and JJ will have to go next year. And that is, if Miles turns it around this year. If we have another 8-4 season, we will hopefully get a new AD and they will be hiring a new football coach, along with men's and women's basketball.

Do you put Jones' extension after the 2014 NIT season on Alleva?
I don't understand the incentive to extend/raise Jones after that season. There is no way he was a flight risk.

Agree 100%. Alleva's history with contract extensions have been awful.

Alleva isn't the problem, He didn't hire JJ .. Dale Brown stuck his neck out for JJ.. Dale is the reason Jones is the coach at LSU. I love Coach Brown, But JJ can't coach his way out of a double open ended garage bag. LSU needs to move on from this awful hire.

So can we blame him for the second part?
As a boss when your employees "quit" it's common practice to no longer pay them, and hire someone to do what is required at that position. Is that not part of the boss's job? Sounds like alleva either isn't doing his job or he is just terrible at it.
If he has given up on WBB I think he can at least find someone to suck for less than a million dollars a year, since he's so worried about money supposedly.

don't think he is that great of a recruiter. to many guys on this team sit on the bench and never see the floor, taking up space is not recruiting

Alleva is not a good AD!! He didn't handle the Duke LaCrosse scandal well, and he dodn't handle the Les Miles Fiasco well. He can handle controversy he sucks.
