...Alabama was better.

That's Miles legacy. If it wasn't for Saban showing up, Miles has at least 1 more title.

8&5 again if we are lucky!!!

What a moron!! 8-5 would be our record if we were extremely unfortunate and the team just straight blew it in at least 3 or more games. With anything better than piss poor QB play we win 9 games minimum this season. Book that shite and take it to the bank all day for 99 cent chicken nuggets.

No question about it ,Miles has done a great job as LSU head coach.Records prove that.My one complaint against Miles is the way he treated Jarret Lee.Jarret was a class act and Miles caused him a lot of embarressment when he made Jefferson the #1 QB.

Nope, the most successful HC, to this point in time, in LSU football history is his legacy.

It's LSU and not any other school. Why does that seem so hard to understand?

True but more like at least two more.

2011 is a given. But there were another couple seasons where the lost to Bama derailed a potential NC season.

And not Hilliard?

You DO realize UGA had won 10 straight...we're playing in Georgia....and they had a Top 5 D, don't you?

ffs

Do not use their defensive rank as a reason that LSU struggled that day. It struggled because of Les Miles and his bad playcalling and offensive philosophy. That defense got tired, while Wing did his thing and Badger gave big sparks.

A few weeks later, LSU played a team that didn't get tired and lose focus. It resulted in 21-0. The only defense you should be hailing is LSU's for somehow keeping it all field goals until the end of the game when Richardson spinned off of a dog arse tired LSU defense. D was on the field entirely too long that night. Miles has done good things. He recruits at a high level, and runs a pretty clean program. But his bad moments are just so heavy to LSU fans, and rightfully so.

His style of play requires a great team with superior athletes to work. He has been blessed with that for the most part since he has been at LSU.

His time has come and gone. I've never liked him as a coach and never will. He never beat Mack Brown while at Oklahoma State (0-4) and he also lost the SEC championship in his first season. That's his legacy to me

If you don't like Miles that's fine... But to say retarded things like this is well Just retarded.......... I am not much of a Miles lover but he has done some great things for this school while here... I did notice a post of ours last night that he could be replaced by any SEC west coach.. You realize how stupid that sounds???? The only two I would even think about taking are Mal or Saban to replace him and get the same results as we have gotten with Miles....

I think on the whole that the game has passed Miles by. Take a look at the Miss St, Auburn and Arkansas games last season. Those three teams have young coaches with new and evolving styles and what happened?

Arkansas (and Bielema in particular) plays about as old school as they come. What are you talking about?

In the three seasons since then the program has been in decline. It's because CLM has not improved anything. What other boss in America would hold on to an employee whose production is down and is doing nothing to change it. Typically if something is no longer working why keep doing it instead of changing it up.

This is his legacy to me--Miles is a solid citizen, who has represented my university well, and is a great recruiter. He has won a NC in 2007, should have won one in 2011, but didnt because of his being stubborn. The 2011 team is probably the best one he will ever have, but fell short. He is a terrible game manager, and seems to have sections where he will "zone" out--but his positives outweigh the negatives.

The Georgia game for the SEC in 2011 was the one that first started me doubting Miles.

We beat one of the beat defenses in the nation that year like a fricking drum to run our record to 13-0, but you started doubting Les because the team had a slow start against the number 5 defense in the nation?

How did you feel in Mississippi State game at half when we couldn't score a TD against the eight best defense in the SEC? Why not start doubting when you are struggling against one on the poorer defenses in the SEC?

The offense didn't beat them like a drum. The defense and kicking game did, neither of which Miles could take credit for. Play calling and who plays - I think everyone knows that is Miles.

Yeah he lost the seccg in his first year. After Katrina hit and not a single bye week. Miles did an amazing job his first year. Lost 4 first round draft picks from Saban's 04 team and did better than Saban's 3 loss final season.

His legacy is partly from guiding the Tigers through that 05 season. Why a jackass you are.

He's clearly one of the very best in the business. Anyone that doesnt understand that CLM is an all time great is in denial or has changed the criteria for this.

He's been very successful at LSU. But we all know that Miles accomplishments have been overshadowed and directly impacted by the successes of a division rival who happens to be coached by a former LSU coach.

So, in the OP's view Miles' legacy is all about longevity.
I have some problems with Miles as a coach, and 1/9/12 changed my relationship with the program, but his career record at LSU is nothing is sneeze at ...
