Since the Aggies stole Chavis, they surely did better against Steele's Defense

Been a lot of smack talking by our little step-cousin from Texas on how the Chavis hire was going to be the difference maker against LSU.
So lets take a look and see how that worked out for them
Points scored against the Chavis led LSU defense:
2012: 19 points
2013: 10 points
2014: 17 points
AVG: 15.3 points
Points scored against the Steele Curtain:
2015: 7 points
So the Aggies scored over twice as many points per game against Chavis' defense than they did against the Steele Curtain? Impossible. Has to be a fluke.
Well, points could be misleading, so lets look at yards per game:
2012: 410 yards
2013: 299 yards
2014: 228 yards
AVG: 312.3 yards
Yards gained against the Steele Curtain:
2015: 250 yards
Advantage: Kevin Steele
Ok, total yards doesnt always tell the tale, so let's look at yards per play:
2012: 94 plays, 410 yards = 4.36 yards per play
2013: 59 plays, 299 yards = 5.07 yards per play
2014: 48 plays, 228 yards = 4.75 yards per play
AVG: 4.66 yards per play
Yards gained per play against the Steele Curtain:
2015: 68 plays, 250 yards = 3.68 yards per play
Yikes, the Aggies gained almost a full yard more per play against the Chavis defense.
Well, sacks must have been an area of improvement because the Aggie fans told us that is where they excel
The Aggie offensive line gave up an average of 2.3 sacks a game against the Chavis defense.
Against Steele and Coach O, they gave up 4 sacks
Advantage: Steele again
Well, motherfricker. I didn't think it was possible that the Aggies could have done worse against the LSU defense, especially after they stole the sole reason why LSU even had a defense to begin with.
There has to be some glimmering light of positivity on the defense side of the ball. But what could that be? Oh, I know. 3rd down. Let's see how that worked out for them.
3rd down conversion % against the Chavis led LSU defense:
2012: 6 of 16 = 37.5%
2013: 5 of 14 = 33.3%
2014: 4 of 11 = 36.4%
AVG: 36.6%
3rd down % against the Steele Curtain:
2015: 4 of 15 = 26.7%
Well god damn. The one area they actually did ok in, got worse
I am guessing the Aggies will come calling again this summer to try and lure Steele away since they still can't do shite against LSU

It's only game but I hear you. In other news....I had absolutely no doubt we were going to score a TD on that last drive. None. I could have taken a nap I was so serene.

Does Peveto get credit for the 2 forced fumbles or the 3 missed FGs?
Posted on 11/29/15 at 3:53 am to SPEEDY
Correct me if I'm wrong but their scoring drive came on the drive where they didn't review the fumble right?
Posted on 11/29/15 at 3:56 am to Powerman
No, it was an earlier drive..

Post same stats against the teams we lose to

Steele called one hell of a game, and I've defended the guy in saying our defense, talent wise, is a shell of its past.
I'm much more pissed peveto can't get a punt over 40 yards.
Great stats though and please share on the SECR for the solid melt.

Frank Herron played great.
Arden Key has been playing with incredible speed and energy. He has sped up his game recently. The elevation in speed first caught my eye vs. Arkansas. He was able to get in the backfield and win one-on-one with speed and quickness. I mean, he is beating guys so fast at times, there is not even a legitimate block attempt.
The sack-fumble by Beckwith before halftime was a huge play.
Overall, the Defense played really well.

Same issues when he was at LSU......great during the game but at the end when a stop was needed-couldn't deliver!!!

Was kinda hoping that the Aggies would have been up by 5 with less than 2 minutes left and LSU had the ball on its own 9 yard line just so the Aggies could have gotten the full Chavis experience

beautiful man!
but you do know those aggie types are stat lovers like you and you probably are going to initiate a "stat war" with them.

Something to take into account regarding these numbers is that the Texas A&M Offense is struggling this year (compared to past years with Sumlin). That may be obvious to people who have paid attention to the Aggies this year, but for a statistical perspective:
2012 - 44.5 PS/G, 558.5 YPG, 7.1 YPP
2013 - 44.2 PS/G, 538.4 YPG, 7.3 YPP
2014 - 35.2 PS/G, 455.4 YPG, 6.3 YPP
2015 - 28.3 PS/G, 426.1 YPG, 5.7 YPP

right, our D played well against A&M.
But all your numbers are for only 1 game. That's too small a sample size to be significant.

i don't care for Peveto as much as the next guy...but why would he get blamed for a missed field goal?

I am sick and tired of piss-poor punting and watching teams like Iowa School of Corn Borers and Indiana State Renal College with KO guys that can drive out of the endzone... yet we have scholarship guy that can barely get it to the 5 yd line...

Who's offense is very down compared to years past.
Steele, outside of A&M, has been terrible. Our defense looked absolutely lost. People claim talent lost and that is bullshite. This years defense was completely disorganized in the secondary where we were full of experienced talent.
