I understand your point. I just think with 2 weeks Bama will have a good plan to avoid having to focus on Cooper so much. Maybe not even focused on running. I'm no Kiffin fan, but I'm sure he'll find ways to get more people involved in the passing game. Sims is solid and they obviously have trust in him. More than LSU has in their QBs at this point

As good as LSU is playing, I think we know the gameplan. Beat you in to submission. With the way the defense is playing, the Oline is blocking, and the RBs are just channeling their inner Christian Okoye, that might be enough the rest of the season. But if the run game doesn't get 5-6 yard a clip and the defense gives up a few quick scores, I'm not sure how confident I am they can comeback

Plus....as much as it pains me to say it, when it comes to beating Bama I just don't think it's ever "as simple as that"

All that said, another night game in TS and LSU clicking at the right time I think leads to another thiller next Saturday and the good guys pull off another upset

I largely agree, but their running game should not be taken for granted either.

Agree. Add, keep Sims from running, he's very capable.

Who do you think draws the assignment, White, Robinson, or Collins?
Combination of the three. I don't think we will have anyone follow Cooper, but White would match up best with his quickness.

key will be DB's getting off blocks and LB's lateral movement b/c they're gonna have to bust up the bubble screens with the quickness

Accounting for Cooper should definitely be priority #1.

But even if other receivers have struggled to this point... you mention OJ Howard & C. Jones... don't forget last year Howard made 1 or 2 huge plays that had the announcers calling his performance against LSU his breakout game. Some players or teams tend to get hot and have bigger games against certain opponents for whatever reason, in the same way Ole Miss has given us bigger fits over the last 5-10 years than they should have.

And while Bama's run game has struggled (relatively) on the road this year, Yeldon has given us fits in the past, as well. And Henry is a big dude who can run.

I expect this game to be a close game. And a tough, physical game where one or two missed assignments (like against Howard last year and Yeldon the year before) might let Bama escape with a win. But if LSU can build on their progress the past few weeks and cut down on mistakes, LSU can absolutely win this game.

I dont think we'll get much of a pass rush this game even with C.Rob out because their game is all about short quick passes...we really need to bait a throw or two to Cooper and by God pick one of them off (enough of the drops).

Our guys, particularly Hunter, are getting really good at getting their arms up and knocking passes down when they can't get to the QB. If they start going to WR screens and slants, expect to see a bunch of them batted down. One of these days Hunter is going to just snag one out of the air and take it the distance.

If LSU can shut down Wallace/Treadwell- they can certainly shut down Simms/Cooper. The big difference being Kiffin is disguising their plays much more effectively then before. Bama losing Cam just made this game more competitive- particularly if that fat load Leon Brown takes the spot at LT.

LSU needs to do what they have done in the past to Cooper. He only has 3 catches for 46 yards or something against LSU. He had 0 catches against LSU in 2012 (can't remember if he played injured or what, but he played). LSU has done better against him than any team. He likes to tightrope the sideline so they need to turn their attention there and shove him out as soon as he catches the ball (or jump the route and house it...that would be fun and would rattle Sims).

This defense is going to shut down the run. Beckwith has had enough time. We are ready.

Need to keep a safety over cooper IMO. We left our guys on an island vs treadwell a good bit.

Eta: good point a few posts up. If he's on the edge, our corners have helped him step out of bounds in previous years

I bet Bama's message board says the same
Shutdown Fournette/RB = Shutdown LSU offense

9 in box, single coverage on WR. Run Blitz and there could be alot of 3 and outs.

Could be another low scoring Game like 11/03
