Basketball - makes sense. Talent level is much closer and LSU isn't a national power.
Baseball - only sort makes sense. Anything can happen in baseball although LSU owns a massively large W/L record vs. Southern. But the games are usually competitive, so I'm down with it.
Football - might as well play the BRHS football team.

At least the argument can be made about keeping money in state, but I'd rather play other in state schools before southern

Whats wrong with pulling for another Louisiana school? I pull for them all as long as LSU isn't involved. I mean, I'm not going to lose sleep over a Southern or UL loss but if Southern's playing Alabama St. or UL's playing UAB, I want the Louisiana school to win that game.
As far as the OP goes, I think the aim should be to avoid playin FCS schools at all costs. Sometimes thats not possible and you have to do what you have to do. But I think thats the only type of situation in which Southern or any other FCS school should play in Tiger Stadium (as a last resort).
FWIW, Florida A&M plays Miami in football every once in a while and its always ugly.

I hoped that Auburn would beat bama.
I hope that Louisiana teams beat almost any other out of state teams.
But that does not make me a "Fan" of those schools.
I'm an LSU alum and an LSU fan.

Do you really want to mix the two tailgating crowds? Do you not read the Advocate, all the crowd problems Southern has outside the stadium? Even a lot of its fans are no longer attending their games because of safety issues. Mix in the drunken idiots LSU has amongst a typical game day crowd & you are asking for problems. And fwiw: in the past decade, only La.Tech out of all the state teams has sold its full allotment of tickets.
