Should LSU play southern in football?

Listening to the Jim Ingster (sp?) on 89.3 and they are arguing that since LSU plays Southern in baseball and basketball, why not play them in football?
Who thinks this is a good idea?
Why or why not?
What would LSU have to gain from it?

Don't know who this is, but he probably shouldn't have a radio show talking about sports.

LSU should never play any FCS school in football.

Id rather play southern than some other shitty team. At least with Southern we could play another BR school. Would be fun IMO. A little band battle halftime would be sweet.

The same thing we gain from playing any other in-state school. Nothing.
Personally, I'd like to play them once and beat the living hell out of them so people would stop asking about playing Southern.

People don't understand just how much worse the SWAC is than other FCS conferences.

Someone please answer the question on why it is a bad idea? Or why playing southern is any worse than playing UAB?

Scheduling is a very fluid and unpredictable thing. Teams cancel at the last second sometimes and often the only teams you can realistically replace them with are FCS teams. It's just the way it works out.

Really?

I'm not advocating it, but a rent-a-win is a rent-a-win, right?

I think one game would be good just to do it.
Not on a recurring basis.

No, we shouldn't play them.
How bad would LSU beat them if they were to play??

What is the advantage of playing ULL, LA Tech, or ULM?
Nothing for LSU. The only advantage is the money that we would pay The University of Ohio to come to LA to get their butts kicked, goes to (insert school here) to get their butts kicked. It is especially sweet for ULL because the team can drive over the day of the game and drive back that night so there is really minimal travel cost and a huge payout for them. I gotta think they make much more money playing LSU than they would playing their conference opponents.

People that say these type of things are ignorant.
LSU could literally run 22 personnel, right up the middle, and there's not a chance of Southern stopping it- and put up 450 yards of rushing and seven touchdowns, with ease.
That's the talent gap

LSU could start anyone they have on their roster and destroy Southern. Southern plays well in its own league, but is not in the same stratosphere as LSU or even UAB. The game would get out of hand in about 10 minutes, and LSU would have to purposely try not to score 60 or 70 points. The line of scrimmage on either side of the ball would be non-existent for Southern.
