I was actually talking to some coworkers about this today. I would love to see him honored in some capacity. I always look forward to his Thanksgiving message every year, and have enjoyed his daily updates.

Yes, he is the #1 fan in Tigerland. Hated and loved by many! His Annual Thanksging Message is very special. He is always pro LSU and always positive. He loves LSU, like many of us. I visit his site everyday. Many of the immature, negative posters on this board, that contribute absolutely nothing need to aspire to Dandy,s spirit! I believe Chicken would agree.

it wont happen, but it should. and duck cause the rant loves to hate on the old dandy one.

Some on the Rant have crapped on some of his site's content, but is there ANYBODY that doubts how much of a fan he is?

They won't do it because he wasn't affiliated with the university, but more importantly they won't do it because they haven't made a fricking penny off of him and in case you haven't noticed, that's just about the only thing that matters to LSU.

It was probably 7 or 8 years ago in Birmingham, AL that a bama fan showed me his site. He said he was jealous that they didn't have something similar.

Exactly, the only difference between dandy and any LSU fan is.... Any LSU fan did not profit from donation to their website.

Many fans start their day by reading DD and have for years. Dandy Don is a great LSU fan, he bleeds purple and golde. He is a war hero, a Louisiana icon, and a great American.

First thing I read every morning, before TD.

There is such a disconnect between human beings these days. The age of message boards, hiding behind computer screens. To say its dumb to honor anyone is, well, dumb.

He is a person who is hurting physically and emotionally at this very moment. Whether or not LSU honors him at one game or not is not the idea.

It's the idea that someone had a compassionate thought and it's struck down by a few as "dumb" because they feel he is irrelevant. Guess what? He's probably more relevant and important to the LSU community than others posting on this board as of late, especially you. I'm sure he's relevant to his family and friends. He's relevant to me, you little shite.

Show some respect to those who are suffering, little boy.

You're obviously too young and haven't been struck with tragedy yet. Let me tell you, I guarantee you, it's coming.

I heard Rhatphuc Hobley will be on hand to lead the stadium in a momnet of silence and prayer for him.

Not!!!!

He is just a fan. Nothing more and nothing less. LSU is not in the habit of doing anything for dead and dieing fans.

No, why would they? I feel sad for the guy and his family that he is ill and nearing his end, but why would LSU give a guy that made a website and "collected donations" for it at the game? Point being what does it honestly have to do with LSU athletics outside of he was a fan that put together a website?

If they don't honor Don, the next best thing would be to not let you in the stadium. Yeah, all he did was put together a website. You have no clue how much time that takes and how much money it takes to run a web site. You miss the point that he promoted LSU football. I dare say he contributed more to the program than the vast, vast majority of the fan base.

That would really be a terrific gesture and no doubt, DD would be humbled by it.

This is a ridiculous post. The issue isn't whether or not Dandy is a good guy or a big fan...I'm quite sure he is. The isn't even whether or not his family and friends feel his illness is relevant or are hurting because of it...I'd be shocked if they weren't.

The issue is just what makes Dandy Don different from all of the other thousands upon thousands of LSU fans that have come and gone and were not honored by a moment of silence because they were gravely ill for simply being a big fan? Are we now going to be submitting a list of names to Dan Borne to be read aloud before pre-game so that we can all keep fellow fans in our thoughts, and if someone complains we can call them out for having a lack of compassion and suggest that since their friends and family find their personal illness relevant EVERYONE must?

I'm sorry to hear Dandy Don is ill...but unless he's officially affiliated with LSU in some way that would differentiate him from all the other thousands upon thousands of anonymous LSU fans, then I really don't see why LSU should do such a thing.
