How many NFL teams have their best cornerback returning kicks. How about their best receiver? This isn't the NFL, it's college; lots of teams have their best player returning kicks. There should be no concern about injury with a kid that is this talented. LSU isn't paying him a contract, he is not an investment. They only have the kid for 2 more years, I'm pretty sure they'll find every opportunity to get him on the field if it helps.
Now if you want to argue that he isn't the best player for the job then that's another thing.
I think the argument would be that he adds more value to the offense, which needs all the help it can get.

it's funny until he gets hurt returning a punt.. a position in which we have tons of others more than capable

I don't like it but I'm sure Coach promised him !

I think Tre White would reprise his role as punt returner over Fournette.

IMO no he should not. Too many other guys that are more than capable. Don't risk your workhorse on the most dangerous play in sports.

If the coaches deem him to be one of the two best guys for the job, then it's definitely YES! You put your best players on the field at each position. Coaches and players don't "fear" injuries like some panzy arse fans do.

Sure he should. He an elite playmaker and should be given every opportunity to make a play
This x1000. He's also a lot better at kick returns than people give him credit for around here. I think Guice would do a good job as well. Maybe give Quinn or Donte Jackson a shot.

From Jim Kleinpeter after the ND game:
That's over 30 years.

First kickoff return for a touchdown for LSU since Mo Claiborne went 99 yards at WVU in 2011. First 100-yarder since Eric Martin in 1983.
That's over 30 years.

but I read somewhere on here that part of the deal when he chose LSU was that he would get to return kickoffs.

I agree with the lack of wiggle .

No... Need a guy that's more shiftier and has better vision. With the exception of the bowl game I didn't think he was a good fit back there.

It is not anyone's decision other than the coaching staff...
Eta: I say no if he's getting 15-20+ carries a game. Which he should be getting.

I don't care who returns kickoffs as long as they always take a knee if the ball goes into the endzone since touchbacks give you the 25 yard line.

I would like to see Guice and Jackson as returners, but I believe it was mentioned during one of the games last year that Fournette returning kicks was promised to him during recruitment.

I agree with the lack of wiggle .

If he seemed good at it, the risk of injury would be acceptable. But he seems very ordinary at KR.
