Pelini may be past his prime but he still knows some football and the talent is there. So what has he done that makes kids not want to play for him?

your first mistake is assuming that Pelini still knows football

He won a NC. He may be dated but I don’t think his lack of knowledge is total cause.

Why do we keep acting like these players: most of which have little to no NFL draft stock are intentionally ruining their careers?

Pelini failed because he didn’t install his defense in all the practice and walkthrough time they had together this fall camp. They don’t know what to do or what the calls are and five games into the year, they can’t execute it against anyone other than Vanderbilt (and even Vandy ran at will on us).

He’s made zero in game adjustments that are effective. The talent and experience on defense is a huge drop-off from the LSU roster we had when he was here before. He seemed to force the 4-3 concepts on a unit that can’t execute it anyway. I really question whether the assistants even know what the player assignments are too that they are coaching.

Combine all that with the players quitting on him and there’s your wheels coming off entirely.

Apparently he yells too much and our defensive players don't care for that.

or the players suffer from diminished mental capacity.

New coaching staff, new scheme, zero offseason, all the player losses. I mean it’s not hard to see why

Offenses have completely changed, and he has clearly not adapted.

It really shouldn’t be that surprising. I didn’t expect this big a drop off, but looking at it after a few games, Ive come to realize we shouldn’t have been expecting too much from this team. We did lose a lot. We had the lack of practice due to Covid. We had a change in coaching on the defensive side of the ball. We changed our whole defense even. I think it’s a what could go wrong did go wrong type of deal. I say this is just a lost year for LSU. It could dovetail into a terrible next 5 even 10 years if Orgeron does not figure things out.

I think the biggest on-field issue is leadership. Guys like Queen and Delpit, they were extensions of Aranda. I don't think Pelini has that. Which isn't to let Pelini off the hook.

Defensive talent is down. Coaches coach better with great players.

can’t stop what he hasn’t started.

Arkansas doesn’t have half the talent we have even with our attrition.
They changed the entire coaching staff on both sides.

They had the same covid offseason we did.

they improved drastically from last year.
we drove a flaming port-o-let off the tallest cliff we could find.

Defensive talent is down? These guys are just as talented as anyone on the Mississippi State, Missouri (playing without something their top 4 receivers) and Auburn offenses.

Save the lack of talent excuse for when Alabama, Florida and A&M run us off the field.

There's no excuse for the defensive shite show we've witnessed so far, and they're not even showing much, if any, improvement, which is the most frustrating part of it all.

I will not accept this excuse. Bama looses players every year and they never miss a beat.
