Ala the Saints or what Bama did to us in that infamous game? I think it would also help Harris

Wouldn't be very effective to run the RB screen. The defense is keying on Fournette too much; a screen would be similar to a toss sweep, with the exception that Fournette would be exposed as he's waiting for the ball to be delivered.

Might be good to run a bubble screen to Dural as he fakes the jet sweep and goes in motion across the backfield; you then fake handing it off to Fournette, and swing it out to Dural as the defense converges. Tight end seals the inside, leaving Dupre or Diarse to block the cb

Screens work best in blitzes and man coverage. Right now, we aren't seeing much of that. We are getting man coverage, but not that many blitzes. Lots of defenders within 5-10 yards of the line of scrimmage waiting for screens and quick passes.

I can think of 2 times that we tried the screen with LF7 already and as mentioned before he is keyed on too much and the play failed.

we don't pass often and consistently enough to run the screen effectively.

exactly, it works with the saints because they throw a lot. it is their way of running the ball.

I think the playbook will unfurl as the season goes on.

Before the season I kept thinking of us running a pro-set with Guice and Fournette coming out of the backfieolds on both sides for passes.

If this wouldn't be effective it certainly would be a good look to go shotgun on 3 and 6 with Fournette and Guice both lining up as the blocking pass- one blocks and the other goes out

A fullback screen may work but in big games they forget how to catch

You'd sooner find out what happened to unicorns.

I do agree you would think we could run one of these plays a couple of times in a game and it would work. It is a bread and butter play for bama. My guess is you have to have some semblance of a passing game for it to work correctly. Although I must admit that maybe a suspect excuse.

Serious question can someone help me remember a screen pass in the Miles era that you can say wow that one worked great. I just can't think of one.

Terrance Magee was great on screens. Thats the most recent and last I remember having a positive play off a traditional screen to the running back.

Screens are so 2000's.

When you have beasts in the backfield, you run it much.

I still think this can be an effective play and would hope the team still has it as an option.

Also, it doesn't have to be LF catching the pass---it could be Williams or Guice.

gotta dial em up properly, we had a good one set up for fournette the other day.

or we could always rogue-screen like 2012 and occasionally bust one a la jeremy hill

we run bubble screens every now and then. They never really work for us and get blown up every time.

We have that little flare screen we run for Guice. We tried a screen earlier in the year to Fournette that got us a first down because the defender held LF7. We also threw a screen to LF7 against Auburn that resulted in a first down.

What if we put Williams in as fullback in the I formation and run the screen to him with Fournette flaring out the opposite way? That might work
