Yes, it can.

The thing is the only way for things to get better is to take a risk like this. But to think it can't get worse is short-sighted.

The firing needed to happen, but you're spot on. People acting like 5-3/4-4 in the SEC is the floor for us are delusional. The wrong hire could set us back big time.

How is it going to backfire? Les was 2-5 in his last 7 games.

It's a new season, with 18 returning starters, and a better QB, with a guy that has a .770 winning percentage in college football.

Conversely, you have chosen to go with coach O for the rest of the season, he has a .286 coaching record in the SEC and a .372 coaching record overall.

There are only a handful of coaches who have ever achieved .770, and you guys apparently think out of a short list of 5-7 guys that they can all do better.

Even in his last 4 years he was .700, and was not allowed to finish this season, apparently because Alleva was afraid that he might save himself again.

Arguably best talent we have ever had. 2011 obviously great.

You can have all the talent in the world, if you don't a good line (offense and defense) you're going to struggle

Take Bama out of the picture and what is Miles record? Now look at the football team records of all the other SEC teams compared to Coach Miles.

I think you can take it from there.

It is certainly a risk. If O proves he isnt the answer and our first choices dont work out then we could be in for a dark era.

We are just not that good!!..

Did anyone ever think that we are just a middle of the pack team. Nothing has happened otherwise to disprove this.

Oh wait we have a new coach, now all the players are 5 star recruits. SMH.

Lol. Like in 2014 when they were going 4-8 after two big losses early to auburn and state. You guys are hilarious. You know it all. BTW, I was for miles being gone, but it doesn't change ignorant posts that aren't possible to know the outcome. Idiot.

A backfire indicates forward progress. There is no chance of backfire here, move along.

From what I'm hearing, everything is a 180 at this point in a matter of 3 days. I haven't been this excited for LSU football since 2011...and that's with 2 losses. Lot of belief within the program that we can run the table.

Of course this could backfire but honestly with Miles we were going downhill fast anyway

Very easily.

I know all the blah blah blah reasons everyone has that makes it impossible, but to pretend that it can't is silly.

Some of you probably don't remember when Alabama sucked because of their coaching hires.

Agreed. Fear too often pre end people from taking risks. Can't be scared to change regardless of risk.

Some buddies asked who LSU could find better and what if we take a step back. I said I was fine either way but watching the product we currently had was not entertaining and needed to change
