In Arlington, TX a LSU team led by Jarrett Lee and a legendary defense made Chip Kelly and the feared speedy Oregon Ducks look pedestrian. They thought they knew what speed was, they thought they knew what strength was until they ran up against some mean arse Bayou Bengals who were being underestimated. Who would’ve guessed that team would go on to have a historic season with an offense being led by Jarrett Lee and by rotating 4 under the radar running backs by the name of Spencer Ware, Michael Ford , Alfred Blue and Kenny Hilliard ? It was said the defense can’t carry the team the whole year .

Yeah they were smacked by Bama in the end ? We had an offense philosophy that lines up with running into a brick wall until you knock it down . Difference is we may have a QB that’s accurate and make teams pay, and we have the playmakers to throw the ball all over teams to open up the run .

All I’m saying is don’t knock these guys this season . Give them a chance ! I feel it coming , Miami is about to get a can of whoop unleashed on them . This defense has that potential to be legendary ! Im being optimistic not a sunshine pumper ! We have QBs who a lot of people don’t believe in . Uncertainty at running back but the guys are talented and a loaded defense that can cause turnovers . Let’s see what happens guys . Wait till after Miami then come crucify me if you want !

GEAUX TIGERS

Also that 2011 team beat three teams ranked in the top 5 ! We have a tough schedule this year but frick it ! It can be done !

I’m saying not a lot of people expected them beat Oregon especially with Jarrett Lee at QB .

These guys weren't under the radar. Maybe Blue but not the others.

Compared to the stars we always had at running back ? Yes they were , nobody in the country was worried about Ware , Ford , and Hilliard

LaMichael James is probably the fastest guy LSU has played since 2010.

Spencer was a 5 star coming off that Cotton Bowl. Hillard was a high 4 star coming off LA state HS rushing record. Ford was high 4 star who broke Cecil's rushing record. Blue was under the radar.

I was honestly never worried about that game. The whole “Oregon speed” thing was media based. What happened is exactly what I thought would happen. They didn’t even get their 27 til the last play of the game if I remember correctly.

I see the Miami game being dominated the same way.

They would still get demolished by the 2011 squad even if this year’s team had Tom Brady at QB

That's patently false. The thought based on past performances was Oregon wouldn't be able to do shite on offense against a powerful defense, and the game just further cemented that belief. And Oregon's defense never worried anybody v

I think we can all agree seven years later that Jarret Lee was not very good, but a team with a badass defense and badass running backs can be dominant, even with a mediocre Quarterback.

I don’t think this team is like that one. But we can hope.

I was at that game.

I remember seeing a young girl in a wheel chair decked out in Oregon gear. With 6 minutes left in the game she realized it was over and was balling her eyes out. Holy crap. I instantly felt terrible for her.

If you go back and watch that game LSU manhandled Oregon the whole game it was fun to watch. That's why when I hear all this talk about Miami beating us I don't believe it our defense will just be too much for them.
