This article talks about poaching Oklahoma, Texas, Clemson and Florida State. To that end I took a stab at configuring the divisions. It would be one heck of a conference.

West:

Arkansas, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Texas, Texas A&M

East:

Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee

Who would you want for LSU's cross divisional rival and how would you construct the divisions? I tried to cut down travel costs. The West would be the weaker division in the above scenario. Those teams might become a more offensive minded to compete.

Apologize if this was recently done by someone else but this is a particularly boring drill weekend.

I read that this morning too but I'd rather they wait until it HAS to be done.

I'd be furious as a long time (40+ years) LSU fan. Two of those schools are traditional schools that we have played over 100 times. Those others are SWC or Big 12 schools. I'd feel shite on as a charter member of the SEC.

IMO If it's 16 then you put 4 teams of 4. Okla A&M, Missouri and Texas can have one of the pods

LSU OM MSU and Arky in one

Bama AU UT SC in one

UK UF FSU and Clemson in the other

but I'd hate to lose the yearly gm vs Bama

So you dropped Vandy and Georgia? It is unlikely anyone gets dropped, UGA certainly wouldn't be one of them.

Why would we (SEC) want to divide our $$$ to "feed more mouths" by adding teams that do not expand our footprint? Forget teams that are in small states (OK, WV) or in states we already have in our footprint.

The only expansion the SEC should consider is into North Carolina or Virginia.

There's no way Oklahoma is going anywhere without okie state and South Carolina would make it hell for Clemson to get into the SEC. If super conferences do happen I could see Bama and Auburn going to the east while Oklahoma and Okie state to the west.

If super conferences do happen I think it would be very likely that LSU would lose its annual game against Bama.

Or Texas

The state is large enough for two teams.

Va. NC Texas all would work
Would need one more

Georgia is a charter member of the SEC. They're not leaving.

Texas is a BIG state with TAMU, UT, Baylor, Texas Tech and TCU that are all competitive schools. Adding UT would greatly expand the SEC's market, even if it is mostly within the state of Texas. FSU would be the same thing on a smaller scale. We have two teams from MISSISSIPPI for crying out loud.

I'd want LSU to leave the SEC if the conference added all those teams

What? 1-2 against those teams last year. 1-2 against them two years ago. Not exactly domination.

I could see us trying to add Texas. They have a huge following, the state of Texas is huge, and a lot of money will follow them.

If we would expand again, I could see the SEC being split North/South instead of East/West.

Let's say you add Texas and Clemson. You move Ole Miss and Arky to the North. Then move Florida south and add Texas to the South.

First of all there's no way Texas is leaving a conference without making sure Texas Tech is in a power conference. State politics wouldn't allow it. Hell they might make it tough without making sure Baylor is accounted for somewhere. Texas will probably end up in the PAC 12 or Big 10 because I don't think they have much interest in the SEC.
Second of all these teams like Florida State and Clemson are going to have hell getting in because South Carolina and Florida don't want them in.
Third Ole Miss and Mississippi State were founding members of the SEC.

Why stop at 3 years? Lsu holds healthy lead on both series.

There is no way the other sec schools would sign off on that lsu,om,msu, arky group. Lsu has historically dominated those 3 programs.

this is a terrible, terrible, terrible idea.

1) no Vandy or Georgia? bull shite
2) imo, the annual payoff per school will go DOWN
3) the Longhorn Network
4) Tejas is used to running (and damn near ruining) their conference; who wants those bastards?
5) loss of identity; no more SEC identity or pride
6) we already don't play each other enough

what's wrong with you people that want bigger and bigger conferences? it just dilutes what we have (had); the best damn conference in the land! win or lose, WE ARE frickING SOUTHERNERS! A&M is one thing but adding Tejas and OU sucks. I hate both and do not want to be in the same conference.

I have no idea where the idea of having less, but larger conferences is good for college football is coming from but we need to find out and crush those bastards.

With that divisional makeup, the East winner would have a proverbial cakewalk compared to the West winner.
