They would have done it if Santa Barbara had played their way into a number one seed. They can't host. There were a couple other possibilities as well.
But if something like 53 new baseball parks being opened in the last decade, the amount of teams that would be good enough for #1 seed and also not have facilities capable of hosting is getting smaller every year.

BTW Missouri State plays their home games in a minor league park. No issue hosting there.

UC Santa Barbara won't host, they would be the only one like that, and it would likely be USC hosting as a 2 seed or something, don't think they would send a west coast team as a 1 seed to the middle of the country.
