I thought Chavis was the one who recruited Amadi who just committed? Amadi indicated how much he liked Chavis. It just doesn't add up.

Yep.

quote:

The final factors for me were the education, another place that I can call home and as much playing time as I can get," Amadi told TigerBait.com.

"Coach Chavis was recruiting me very hard and he is a very good guy. I have always watched him coach even when he was at Tennessee. He and i had a strong connection and he likes the way I play, especially the way i return kicks and everything."

Amadi (5-9, 175) will graduate from high school at mid-term and enroll at LSU in mid-January.

Les Miles was ecstatic to hear the news on Amadi's decision.

"He is very excited and he said he can't wait to coach me," Amadi said. "He said he was going to try and get me No.7 which is a great number at LSU."

Sure doesn't sound to me like Chavis is leaving.

He makes plenty. frick these pigs wanting millions only to lose three games?

If ND runs him silly today, the tune will change quickly.

And, Chavis is a lousy recruiter to boot.

If LSU doesn't put up a fight for Chavis then they really have no fricking clue where their bread is buttered...do they think Les has been keeping this thing afloat?

Eh, bad timing on that one, plus it's not true.

Maybe LSU has a backup plan? Coach "O"?

What else can LSU do? The staff as a whole is already highest paid.

Timing is always bad. But if Chavis is using recruiting to leverage his bank account, frick him.

I do think Chavis is playing TAMU as a fiddle for many reasons. He's just the last coach that would up and leave. As little love as I have for Alleva even he's not dumb enough not to match TAMU's deal or give even more. It's entirely possible the deal is actually more than TAMU and that's why they're saying take it or leave it. Getting paid 2 million a year as DC is entering ridiculous territory.

Money talks and coaches walk but it ain't happening now. The most telling for me is no sense of urgency or concern from recruits and all reports are Chavis has been happy down in Nashville. The players are talking about coming back for a NC next year...yeah, not happening. Just I don't see it.

Makes little sense. Why would Collins, Mills, Hunter, and Kwon come back to playoff a new DC?

If the Athletic Director allows Chavis to leave due to not paying him market value, then the AD may as well pack his own bags.

I'm hoping Chavis is using this to hurt TAMU recruiting. They fired their DC, had a couple of decommits, lost on some guys they were counting on to come in for the defense... and now Chavis is hopefully hammering another nail in.

As long as there's hope on the TAMU side, then they are in limbo. It is a really really bad time of the year to be in limbo for recruiting.

ETA: don't forget there have been a couple of little "dirty incidents" with TAMU on the recruiting trail once they joined the SEC. Personally, I think it's boosters doing it and not TAMU staff, but hey they are on the same team. One example is Ricky Seals Jones' dad stating that a SEC team that his son turned down offered cash. It was later debunked, but the only school it could've been was LSU.

The rant bitches that we pay our coaches too much.

The defensive staff deserves a raise.

The only two on the offensive staff who deserve any money is grimes-OL improved, Henry, and Wilson.

The rest of them should donate half their salary to the defensive staff because they've been toting the offense's water for 4 outta 5 years.

I doubt that. It would hurt LSU too by spreading rumors he's leaving.
