Houston 610 radio mentioned the suspensions and they basically said, MEH ... college kids, one game, not a big deal.

Have you seen the tests or has there been a statement released saying what they tested positive for?

JWH-18 is the legal name of the substance.

Show me a test that tests for it...

SHOCKED I tell you, I am SHOCKED

ETA: Speak for yourself. They have NOT let me down.

I am quite shocked that college football players are doing something illegal which in turn can affect the team.

considering it is probably our 2nd best player on offense, our best player on defense, and another starting CB on defense, there really is no positive spin on this.

"durr durr they are college aged kids, they do this!!!!!"

shut the frick up with that stuff. Football players are held to a higher standard than other pot head frat boys that have no involvement with LSU besides attending to get an education.

football players represent the university in a national light. They are giving free scholarships to play football at LSU. They are expected to obey the rules, whether it is common for other students to break them or not. Some LSU fans are retarded to keep saying this

Yes there is a test for synthetic marajuana. Of course as they develop tests, the manufactures develop new ones just slightly altered to beat the law so they are unable to detect all of them. My work test for synthetic marajuana and synthethic bath salts. LINK

I understand it came out before auburn but what if it came out Nov. 3rd and where suspended for the alabama game or for BCSNCG for what thats worth. There has to be more dicipline for these kids or they will continue to hurt the ones trying to do the right thing. Thats coming from someone that has been 20 years old and made some bad decisions and cost me a lot.

The NCAA bans the following classes of drugs:

a. Stimulants
b. Anabolic Agents
c. Alcohol and Beta Blockers (banned for rifle only)
d. Diuretics and Other Masking Agents
e. Street Drugs
f. Peptide Hormones and Analogues
g. Anti-estrogens
h. Beta-2 Agonists

Note: Any substance chemically related to these classes is also banned.

The institution and the student-athlete shall be held accountable for all drugs within the banned drug class regardless of whether they have been specifically identified.

Drugs and Procedures Subject to Restrictions:

a. Blood Doping.
b. Local Anesthetics (under some conditions).
c. Manipulation of Urine Samples.
d. Beta-2 Agonists permitted only by prescription and inhalation.
e. Caffeine if concentrations in urine exceed 15 micrograms/ml.

Some Examples of NCAA Banned Substances in Each Drug Class

NOTE: There is no complete list of banned drug examples!!

Check with your athletics department staff before you consume any medication or supplement.

Stimulants:

amphetamine (Adderall); caffeine (guarana); cocaine; ephedrine; fenfluramine (Fen); methamphetamine; methylphenidate (Ritalin); phentermine (Phen); synephrine (bitter orange); etc.

exceptions: phenylephrine and pseudoephedrine are not banned.

Anabolic Agents – (sometimes listed as a chemical formula, such as 3,6,17-androstenetrione)

boldenone; clenbuterol; DHEA; nandrolone; stanozolol; testosterone; methasterone; androstenedione; norandrostenedione; methandienone; etiocholanolone; trenbolone; etc.

Alcohol and Beta Blockers (banned for rifle only):

alcohol; atenolol; metoprolol; nadolol; pindolol; propranolol; timolol; etc.

Diuretics (water pills) and Other Masking Agents:

bumetanide; chlorothiazide; furosemide; hydrochlorothiazide; probenecid; spironolactone (canrenone); triameterene; trichlormethiazide; etc.

anastrozole; tamoxifen; formestane; 3,17-dioxo-etiochol-1,4,6-triene(ATD), etc.

Beta-2 Agonists:

bambuterol; formoterol; salbutamol; salmeterol; etc.

Any substance that is chemically related to the class of banned drugs is also banned! (unless otherwise noted)

They do not test for K2. This is directly from the NCAA website of banned drugs. It would be a street agent and they do not test for it.

These kids were smoking weed. Not fake weed.

this alone tells me you are concerned with the effect on the game than with the wrongdoing of those involved.

If it was the actions that concerned you, it wouldnt matter if they were starters, MVP's etc.

Little holier than thou of you IMO

Actually is banned by the NCAA...my bad

K2 Gains Popularity Among Athletes
March 2011: K2, also known as Spice, is a synthetic version of marijuana. This drug, which creates a similar high to marijuana, is becoming more popular among athletes because it does not generate a positive drug test. The active ingredient of this herbal mix, sprayed with chemicals, is JWH-018, which is very similar to the active compounds of marijuana. K2 is a relatively new drug, first identified in 2008. There is great concern over the side-effects of this drug. It may cause dangerously elevated heart rates, hallucinations, seizures, and cardiac arrest, among others. It has been linked to several deaths in athletes.
This drug was recently added to the DEA's controlled substance list. It will become a banned substance by the NCAA beginning August 1, 2011. You can read more about this drug here.

Might be worse than them smoking the real thing if true

You also have to keep in mind that there are synthetic marajuana products available that contain THC. These products are sold on the streets as designer drugs or synthetic marajuana and are made by mixing various legal herbs with THC.

The THC component would show up in a drug test.

I normally don't agree with Lester, but he hit the nail on the head here.

I also don't understand why elite athletes feel the need to put this crap into their bodies. They get to experience the ultimate high every Saturday during the fall, performing in front of 100,000 screaming fans ... guess that's just not enough for some guys.

I provided a link. You might have seen it had you not been too busy trying to be a smartass.

Htown- yes they do think it is far more dangerous than the real thing. The bath salts some are abusing (sythetic coke) are even worse.
